| My husband, 20 year old son, and I saw this show and we all completely enjoyed it. We saw Walmartopia, Cyrano, and Wicked and Walmartopia was our favorite. It had a good combination of musical and non musical parts. The story was fun and there were political points .. nothing too strong. The sets were colorful enough and fit the story. |

A funny show, would see it again. Review by: knarrly, Nov 27, 2007 |
| During the recent Broadway strike, the performance to RENT I was scheduled to see was cancelled. My son and I saw this show instead. I have to admit for an Off-Broadway show I was pleasantly surprised! We both enjoyed ourselves. The music had a great mix of funny songs, as well as more meaningful ballads. Nikki James was the shining star of this musical! Cheryl Freeman, who played the mother, also had an excellent voice. It was ... read more definitely worth the tickets. |

Lots of Fun Review by: Brooklyn Guy, Sep 26, 2007 |
This musical/play/satire is by no means BROADWAY quality and if that is what you are expecting, you are going to be disappointed (hence the mixed reviews). This production is silly, campy, light and a lot of fun. I dont remember the last time I laughed so hard.
The production tries to make a point, and winds up becoming a bit slap sticky and a little goofy. The singing was great, the acting was mediocore and the story line was poor.... read more. The songs were wonderful though. All in all, I had a GREAT TIME and I would recommend it.
If you are a theater buff, you are going to hate it, so skip it. If you want something light, fresh, and a little zanny for a 3rd date (and you have discount tickets), this is where to go.
I am actually thinking about getting my parents tickets, cause they will love it. But then again, they think White Zinfandel is the "fancy wine".

Suffered through it. Review by: , Sep 24, 2007 |
| The show was a terrible horrible mess. I don't want to criticize anyone's art, but when you charge $65 for a ticket, the show should be worth something. The show is horribly written, so badly so that no acting could redeem it. The writers seem to know only the headlines of the issues regarding Wal-mart and even less about formulating a dramatic arc. |

Run, don't walk......! Review by: d deluna, Sep 7, 2007 |
| I must admit to being a very biased reviewer, since I have a relative on the production crew. HOWEVER, having witnessed Broadway, and off-broadway shows from pre-production through openings, all the way to replacement casts for 10 years, and not being a "native New Yorker", only the last preview of "The Producers" (no bias involved) provoked more sore jaws and side splitting cramps due to laughter than the opening night of WALMARTOPIA. And yes, ... read more even though an opening night audience is invited, and therefor naturally biased, I have never seen a more attentive opening audience - the material was excellent enough to override the usual "opening night crowd self-conciousness". RUN, DON'T WALK to see this delightful skewering of "capitalism run amok". Obviously not appreciated by native New Yorkers, BUT THE REST OF US FROM YOKELSVILLE GET IT !!!!!!!!!!!! |

Fun, Campy with Loads of Talent... Review by: SEE THE SHOW!, Sep 3, 2007 |
I saw the show and thoroughly enjoyed the last night of previews and also the previous Wednesday before. [There were only ten previews before opening on Labor Day which is not many for such an elaborate show,]
I feel that it was unfair of some people to write negatively after seeing an early preview. Previews have the purpose of getting the cast up to speed and working out kinks.
The several singing talents are superb, the ... read more choreography is hysterical, the set and [obviously expensive] production are something to behold. The quick changes make Irma Vep look tame. [Wait until you see Dr. Normal.]
The fact that Walmart is being exposed in ingenious ways for what it truly is and it wants to be is a plus, [A company that only Dick Cheney could love.]
Yes, keep Walmart out of NYC but not WALMARTOPIA the musical
Yes, I will see it again during the run.
Yes, the show is fun for the whole family. ...and anyone young at heart.

You are the reason Off-Broadway is getting a bad wrap! Review by: wantmymoneyback, Aug 31, 2007 |
| This over produced, underacted, boring musical is not worth 5 dollars. The energy was lacking, and other than Nikki the young daughter, who by the way should be doing a tour of spring awakening and not this, could all use a little more time in the rehearsal room. Save your money, or give it to a homeless man, its better spent that way. |

Review by: Ecap , Aug 29, 2007 |
Worst show I ever saw next to Pirate Queen. There was not one redeeming factor in the whole show. The fact that someone put that much money is ridiculous. It's not a comedy by any means and its not dramatic.Do the producers not know that there isn't a Walmart in NYC. So the east village crowd isn't gonna like it. I could go on but I'd just be wasting more of your time. I wasted enough last night. |
