I was surprised by this show, but in a good way. Based on what you see on the program you might think this is nothing but music from the 2 great writers, Berlin and Joplin but there is a great story behind the music.
The singers a wonderful with great range and styles, they go from Ragtime and Tin Pan Alley to light opera and handle it all with real talent.
The sets were innovative and fit in beautifully with the story, the ... read more acting was strong from top to bottom. Michael Boatman has a real presence about him.
I really liked this theater, one of the more comfortable seats I've ever had, great acoustics and sightlines. Not a bad seat in the house.
The only bad thing I can say about this play is that it is closing. |

| We're avid theatregoers, and we like all kinds of shows. After just seeing Hair, West Side Story, South Pacific (yes, we're geezers who like revivals...lol) hubby and I thought this little show about a hypothetical meeting between two great composers was going to be a let-down, especially after the somewhat mixed reviews. Well - forget the dang critics or pre-conceived notions. This sweet, funny, sad, amazingly-performed show will haunt you ... read more for well after seeing it. The two leads were mind-blowingly good and the rest of the tiny cast (playing a dozen parts each) were multi-talented and tremendously versatile. | Good show. The story, music, acting, singing, etc.. were all fantastic. I enjoyed this show alot. It had some great moments. I didn't go away feeling blown away or anything, but was very happy I got a chance to see it while in NY. |
