"Thurgood" is triumpantly good! Review by: RDoubleUp, Jul 16, 2008 |
The show was spectacular. One person shows in and of themselves present unique challenges - holding audience interest, maintaining stamina, the strive to be entertaining. "Thurgood" excels from all three points. The physical transformation of Mr. Fishburne is riveting. From the hair to the suit, it's an appeal to be Thurgood all the way. It also a play about purpose, sacrifice and the American way - it's nightmare, it's dilemma, it's ... read more promise and it's dream. What a way to spend the night at the theater! |

The Apocolypse Now kid meets the Supreme Court Review by: 5th Warder, Jul 10, 2008 |
| I had the distinct pleasure of attending a matinee performance of Thurgood last week. Lawrence Fishburne had me convinced he truly was Thurgood Marshall! It was the perfect precursor to my Family Reunion in Baltimore. Because of the play I was eager to explore the city that brought us Thurgood Marshall and was not disappointed. The play and the city enlightened me beyond my expectations. I highly recommend you at the very least, see this ... read more extraordinary performance, if not the city. |

Thurgood - More than Good Review by: Broadway Fan, Jun 21, 2008 |
Laurence Fishburn is Thurgood Marshall. He commands the stage from the moment he slowly walk to the table and puts his briefcase down. I don't think I moved a muscle, transported to that moment in time. What a gifted actor. What an important piece of theatre. For all families, of all races. This is a history lesson, a great Broadway show, and the chance to see a truly great actor work his craft. Outstanding. |

| I took my 81 year old mother to see Thurgood for a Wednesday matinee and we both were thrilled! In the past, my mother has dozed off during several very talkative shows and I glanced at her occasionally. She was Wide Awake through the whole wonderful, informative performance!! We discussed Mr. Fishburne's performance the rest of the day. Give the man a Tony Award!! |

RUN, don't walk, to get your tickets! Review by: NYC Theatregoer, Apr 30, 2008 |
| What a great evening in the theatre! Laurence Fishburne took the stage and held the audience captive for a full 90 minutes. He embodied the person of Thurgood Marshall, informing and entertaining us, and giving a master-class in acting. Kudos also to the script of George Stevens Jr. and the direction of Leonard Foglia. As a side-note, my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Fishburne after the show and briefly chatting with him. He was an ... read more absolute gentleman, charming and gracious. I hope that in the future (between his many movie projects) he plans to return to the New York stage and more people will have the chance to see one of the finest actors of this generation. |

Superb! Words fail me. Review by: Arlie, Apr 28, 2008 |
| In 40+ years of theatregoing, this was one of the finest evenings I've experienced. The script is beautifully written and Mr. Fishburne's performance is spellbinding. The night I attended, the audience was on its feet before he could get off the stage, a richly deserved standing-O. As the play opens, he is an old man walking with a cane. As he looks back to his beginnings, he lays aside the cane and becomes a young man with a spring ... read more in his step, then subtley and gradually ages as the story, and his life, progresses. It is a virtuoso performance. There is very little stage business, just the man and the story. And what a story! This is a play not to be missed. |

| Thank you, Mr. Fishburne; your performance last night left me near tears. Watching and listening to your stunning portrayal of Thurgood Marshall was the equivalent to being "hit upside the head". You have helped me to find my way [back] to the bursar's office to jump start my career in law! |
