Not to Be Missed! Review by: Ron T., Nov 3, 2012 |
| There's those rare evenings when one leaves the theater and is unable to speak for a few blocks. Such is the way I felt after seeing this extraordinary play. Tremendous acting, directing and play-writing make this one of those shows you will remember for years to come. Thank you, Playwrights Horizons. |

Don't Miss The Whale Review by: Upthehudson, Oct 22, 2012 |
| The Whale is another example of the quality work coming out of Playwrights Horizon. It is 2 (uniterrupted!) hours of compelling drama, great writing and heartfelt performances. Shuler Hensley is simply extraordinary as a 600 pound Idahoan who has essentially folded his cards and is playing out the conclusion of his life. During the week we have tuned in for, he will be in the company of a bitter friend providing compassionate nursing care, a ... read more wayward Mormon carrying a burden for his soul, an extremely hostile estranged daughter and his resentful ex-wife. It's a well directed blend of grim pathos and laugh out loud dialogue and we left the theater with plenty to talk about. |
