Great Show, Wonderful Cast, Highly Recommended Review by: BroadwayBabySawIt, Dec 12, 2009 |
| Great show - loved the really funny script and the lyrics, and the music rocked! But the real draw is the absolutely amazing cast - finally some solid roles for women in musicals! Nancy Opel stands out in her many roles, but is incredible when performing a duet between 2 of her characters. Diana DiGarmo is a comic gem who can also bring down the house with her singing voice. Congrats to both ladies for the best female performances in NY at the ... read more moment! On the guy side: Nick Cordero is great as the Avenger - he can handle rock songs and ballads, and acts and dances great too. And don't miss Desmond Green's dancing and Jonathan Root's take off of Bruce Springsteen. Just loved this show, it is witty, touching and really fun. One of the best shows in NY (and we've seen most of them). Don't miss it! |

We did not like it Review by: frequent theatre goer, Nov 24, 2009 |
| Let me preface by saying, I have seen most Broadway and off-Broadway shows and this was one of the worst shows I've seen. Apparently, the 4 of us (ages 40's-50's) that went to see this are in the minority here in that we did not like it. Maybe one reason was that for the Sat. 4:00pm show that we atttended, Diana Degarmo did not perform but rather her understudy, who was ok. The show starts out well, with catchy tunes, funny lines, and an ... read more interesting set design. However, it goes downhill quickly. The second reason is the silly story line. It's about a nerd who gets dumped into a garbage can filled with toxic waste and comes out with green slime and what looks like giant measles. We had 1st row seats which made it more uncomfortable to look at him. He falls in love with a blind librarian and wants to save NJ from being a toxic dumping ground. On the plus side, the actors ae all talented, some playing multiple roles. Interestingly, the 4 of us had seen the new hit musical MEMPHIS the same week and both shows have the same writers. However, as far as Broadway shows, that show is fantasic while this show is more of a bad horror high school production. Even at the discounted price, this was not worth seeing. |

Wonderful Performance!! Review by: Rachel B., Nov 9, 2009 |
| My husband and I went on to see this while on a trip to NYC to celebrate our anniversary and we LOVED the show! Cast was AMAZING! Very talented group of actors. And it was nice to have a live band playing too! Very small theater so there isn't a bad seat in the house. If you like the Troma films and aren't offended easily I'd definitely recommend seeing this show. (But don't take kids that are too young!...Saw a few of them in the audience ... read more at our show.) |

Return of Phantom Flyer---In Green. Review by: sunhillkid , Nov 9, 2009 |
| this my type of entertainment. the music &lyrics are great. I am hard to please. I was very pleased.I laughed the whole way through.Iam not paid to write this. Everyone was superb. The one who I think will go far in the entertainment world is the guy who played the cop(among all his other parts). He might have been the understudy. I saw it Sunday ,Nov. 8.at 3P.M. |

| When I go to see a show about a green, slimy guy I don't expect political correctness or anything mind boggling but I do expect to have fun. And that's exactly what happened at Sunday's matinee. The cast is great, the score is pretty darn good and you'll laught. If you can let your hair down, just a little, you will love Toxie and Sarah. If not, stay home! |

Diana Degarmo and Nancy Opel are fantastic! Review by: Seth, Sep 26, 2009 |
| This show is amazing. Nancy Opel and Diana DeGarmo had me laughing every time they were onstage it seems. The whole cast is great. Definitely a must see if you are looking for a show to see while in NYC. Don't bring the kiddies though! 14 and up is most appropriate. |

Toxic Avenger ROCKS!!!!! Review by: Mr. Toxic Goo, Sep 23, 2009 |
| Toxic Avenger the Musical is a VERY FUNNY show!!! It is a small theater so every seat is a good one. Diana Degarmo is a VERY talented and extrememly sexy blind librarian. Her and Nick (Toxie) steals the show. The other members of the cast is great as well. The mayor/mother is extremely talented and plays both parts together VERY WELL!! There are discounted tickets so you can see a VERY good show VERY cheap! There seems to be a lot of very good ... read more shows that start out off-broadway in the New World stages and MAKE it to BROADWAY. Case in point, ROCK OF AGES EXCELLENT SHOW! toxic should make it to broadway as well especially with Diana Degarmo in the cast. To top off the night, the ENTIRE cast was extremely personable and stayed after the show to met and greet everyone who stayed and sign autograpghs and take pictures. Class Act everyone!! Will definitely see it again! |

Uneven show with a very talented leading lady. Review by: Jerry, Aug 20, 2009 |
| I saw the matinee on Saturday. The star of the show on all levels is Diana Degarmo. What a revelation she is! I never saw her in Hairspray and now I wish I had. She's very funny and sings everybody else right off the stage. I'd be giving the show a thumbs down if not for her. |

DeGarmo makes the show Review by: VicP, Aug 17, 2009 |
Was fairly unimpressed with the show as a whole - As Rock of Ages is the only other rock musical I have seen recently, I can only say Toxic Avenger comes up short in comedic timing and overall talent compared to ROA Miss DeGarmo is the one saving grace - This girl has a set of pipes and would recommend seeing just to hear her alone -

Diana DeGarmo ROCKS this show Review by: Patrick, Aug 16, 2009 |
| GO SEE THIS SHOW! Diana DeGarmo from the 3rd season of American Idol is now playing Sarah, the lead female character. SHE IS EFFIN AMAZING in the role and really raises the sex appeal of the show through the roof. The humor is adult oriented but nothing you won't hear on a cable tv comedy. All the cast was good and the music was catchy. But Diana is the star to watch. Just amazing stage presence and timing. |

A fun Show Review by: Terry, Aug 9, 2009 |
This show was funny and campy with a message, but not for youngsters or those who have no sense of humor. I thought the music was good and the actors wonderful, with great voices as well. I really enjoyed it. |

Weird and wonderful Review by: Dee, Aug 6, 2009 |
| This is such a unique, funny show!! Yes, it's weird, and definitely not for children (people with kids walked out after just minutes), but it's memorable in every way. I actually remembered the songs after leaving! The cast is super-talented--some of the best voices I've heard on/off broadway (especially Ma Ferd/The Mayor). I also love when a small cast plays many different characters; each cast member worked very hard. The plot is ... read more straightforward, so you won't be scratching your head in confusion. I think it's best to be seen with people you're comfortable with. Be warned that it's really loud in the theatre and there's no intermission. The atmosphere is casual though, so if you need to leave for a few minutes it's no big deal. |

GO SEE Review by: bigkev, Aug 2, 2009 |
| CAUTION..... NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN OR PEOPLE WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO LAUGH.... Best Off-Broadway I have ever seen. I sat there thinking that this is a much better version of 'Little Shop Of Horrors'.... and even if you find the musical a little confronting, this stage shared so much talent.... inspired and ultimately hilarious. A rare gem in musical theatre |

Our family went to see the show, 2 adults and two teenagers. Overall, it is cute. Everyone liked it, no one loved it. Based on the reviews I saw posted here, I was a little disappointed. The theater is very small, so I am glad I opted for the less expensive seats. There probably aren't any bad seats to be had. For the price it was worth it. |
