A Must See! Review by: TeacherGal42, Oct 21, 2010 |
| I am a local professor and I recently attended The Screwtape Letters with a group of my students. Not only was the show extremely thought provoking, but it was thoroughly entertaining as well. The lead, Max Mclean, was born to play Screwtape! I will definitely recommend this show to my friends and other professors. |

| The Screwtape Letters is a wonderful, compelling production. Max McLean gives a riveting performance. It is both profound and witty and stays true to the C.S. Lewis novel. Highly recommended! |

Thoroughly Entertaining! Review by: TheaterFan55, Sep 7, 2010 |
| My parents and I saw this production and we all thought it was fantastic! Not only does it hold true to the book, but Max McLean’s performance brings a whole new perspective to the audience. His dynamic acting and strong voice paired with the attention-grabbing movements of Toadpipe not only make this piece easier to grasp for audiences, but really help emphasize points that otherwise might be missed or are not as ... read more gripping while reading the book. Both of my parents loved the production- my father has read it, my mother has not- so we would definitely recommend it to audiences both familiar with the subject and not; both will be thoroughly entertained. |

PHENOMENAL PRODUCTION!! MUST SEE!! Review by: C. S. Lewis fan, Jun 10, 2010 |
I treated my husband of 35 years to this play because he just loves C. S. Lewis. The production was superb and the acting was phenomenal! If you are an aficionado of C. S. Lewis, this play is "must see"! The actor stays true to the book, which was very refreshing. Before the play, my husband and I had dinner in New Jersey. Well, right in the middle of dinner, he whips out his original copy of the Screwtape Letters. After the play, ... read more the production deserved a standing ovation, which was given by many of those patrons in the audience. Excellent play! A refreshing change from all the musicals on Broadway. |

Very good show -- but be prepared for a different kind of theater experience Review by: IggyCat, May 24, 2010 |
| My wife and I saw this play on May 22nd. We enjoyed it (I did more than my wife). The acting is excellent, the dialogue and themes are interesting, and the pacing is refreshingly brisk (just 80-90 minutes for the whole show). That said, people should be aware that this play is a bit unusual. There is only one actor who speaks (a second character moves a lot but does not speak); I don't tend to love one-man shows normally. Also, the ... read more themes and dialogue are from C. S. Lewis (so perhaps a tad old-sounding and academic), whose main character is an administrator in the underworld (so not exactly in a traditional setting). I suspect this play won't be perfectly suited for some people's tastes. But, if you go in with an open mind, hopefully you will have an enjoyable experience. |

The Devil Made Me Do IT Review by: NedRacine, Mar 22, 2010 |
I saw the Screwtape Letters about two years ago, but I believe the current show is likely to be similar, if not identical, especially because the performers are the same. I enjoyed it as a small off-broadway show. As you may know, it's based on the works of C.S. Lewis (I think that is the correct spelling). It's a story of how the Devil and his Assistant try to win souls for Hell. Not as scary as that sounds! Both humorous and fun, ... read more it may well appeal more to individuals interested in Literature on Religion. I enjoyed it. |
