OUTSTANDING IN EVERY WAY Review by: jef, May 16, 2011 |
I am so happy I was able to see this play. All of the reviews say the things I want to... better than I could. It ws a very sad time in our countries history that we ignored the signs and our leaders dismissed them, this play is both moving and relevant. |

The NORMAL HEART is Wonderous.... Review by: Silversurfer, May 11, 2011 |
| All I can say is WOW! Run to get tickets to this amazing play. A great production , filled with great acting from a marvelous cast. Joe Mantello is the stand out here, giving a brilliant performance. This play is not at all dated, it is still so relevant today. You will laugh, cry, feel anger, be moved and walk out knowing you have just seen something so special. |

Exemplary and Gripping Production! Review by: Andre, May 9, 2011 |
| This was a phenomenal production - easily one of the best and most gripping plays I have seen in a while. It was absolutely flawless in terms of staging, acting, and message - and I am not gay! :) For me, Joe Mantello was absolutely outstanding as the lead character - intelligent, often funny, intense, passionate, and irate - yet never inconsequential. Of course it was great to see Jim Parsons in person as well, whom I love from the Big Bang ... read more Theory, even though his was a supporting role. I left the theater quite stirred, similar to when I saw Red or, interestingly and in a different way, La Cage aux Folles with Douglas Hodge and Kelsey Grammer. Definitely an outstanding production and worth every penny! |

ELECTRIFYING- WILL KNOCK YOU RIGHT OUT OF YOUR SEAT! Review by: endecott, May 8, 2011 |
| This is one of the most amazing things i have seen on Broadway in a long time. And i've seen a lot. The entire cast gives stunning performances and left me shaking and moved. I thought it would be an interesting revival of an important moment in time that's past. Boy was i surprised. This play is so relevant, so human and resonates way beyond the subject at hand as well as tackling it head on as well. The play and this production is a riveting ... read more display of life force on the stage. Every one in the cast seems to go deep into their core and give every ounce of energy, talent and heartfelt emotion that they possess. I don't know how these actors can do this 8 times a week. You will probably never see this level of acting by so many cast members again in your life. Do not miss this show. It is historic. You will leave the theater speechless, informed and moved. |

An Important Play, Not to Be Missed Review by: Legs29676, May 3, 2011 |
| This is one of the best things on Broadway, a revival that reveals the shameful way we dealt with the AIDS epidemic and the ensuing devastation of so many lives. The cast is moving; the staging is brilliant, the words are heartfelt and heartbreaking. Be certain to take the letter from Larry Kramer when exiting the theater. Be sure to get tickets for this show. |

Superb, a Must See! Highly Recommended Review by: BroadwayBabySawIt, Apr 23, 2011 |
| Superb staging of this play. All the actors are top notch, particularly John Benjamin Hickey, a favorite of ours from his previous stage work. Two actors that we know and admire from TV - Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies and Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory - show excellent stage skills here too. Joe Mantello is a great director, and here has the lead role as Ned Weeks, the activist who stirs up lots of controversy - Mantello is sometimes ... read more hard to hear, but always remains a passionate firebrand and shows that he has acting chops too, as well as being a great director. And Ellen Barkin makes a great Broadway debut. Many of the audience were crying during the second half and at the very emotional end of this amazing play. It really does capture the early 1980s, and the early days as the AIDS plague began, all the uncertainty and the worries - and the neglect by politicians snd those funding studies. One of us was a medical student at that time, and the play really captures what is was like to try to diagnose, treat and counsel these young men at that time, the play is like a time machine. Don't doubt the story, it's true. We strongly recommend this play to everyone, do not miss it - we see a lot of theater, and this one is one of the very best that we have ever seen. Congrats to all involved in it! One note - as we left, we were handed leaflets with a letter from the playwright, Larry Kramer - this is very valuable reading, please make sure that you pick up one of these letters too to find out what is happening now! |
