If you grew up in the sixties you will enjoy this! Review by: Sue, Oct 22, 2009 |
| Entertaining for the older baby boomer generation. The music was great, but the plot was a little shabby. The music carries the whole show and makes it an entertaining evening despite a mediocre story. |

| We took my 8 year old daughter and parents and really enjoyed it! The second scene dragged a bit at the start but it turned out nicely.I think it would have been nice if they had thrown in just a couple of more people into the mix. The music was great and all in all quite an ejoyable show! |

Must see for the white hairs Review by: waymorfun, Sep 9, 2009 |
I must say that this was a fun time since it took me right back to my high school days. The theater is really nice for off Broadway and the cast was top notch. All 4 of the ladies in the cast can sing great, know how to deliver a line, have great comedic timing and stage presence. A special standout is Lindsay Mendez in her role of BJ, this could be a disaster without her ability to find the comic parts without going overboard. The sets are ... read more minimal but suffice. This probably will not appeal as much to anyone under 30 but if you were around during the 50's and 60's this will appeal to you. I will probably have to go see it again. |

Cute but drags a bit Review by: Dee, Aug 6, 2009 |
| It's a cute show with very strong performers, but it didn't completely hold my attention. The plot sort of drags and repeats itself. It doesn't ruin the show or anything, but some audience members might get bored. If you don't mind sitting in your seat and simply watching the girls sing for two hours, then definitely check it out. It's a pretty decent alternative to regular broadway shows, and it's suitable for the whole family. |

Initially, I was bewildered by all the praise for this diaphanous bit of fluff -- after all, in New York City one expects at least the rudiments of plot, story line, character development, and other basics at the theatre. But I'm learning to lighten up a bit in my old age; not every production need carry the Weight of the World on its shoulders, nor must I leave every venue having learned a new, deep, profound Life Lesson. Theatre is, ... read more in essence, entertainment; and The Marvelous Wonderettes is certainly entertaining. The four girls sing well (that IS still a minimum requirement for a musical), and one of the current crop (Lindsay Mendez) appears to have a legitimate shot at the Big Time. I wish there were room on the stage for the band, which is never seen and barely acknowledged -- but in small theatres you never get everything you want. So by all means, catch the Wonderettes. Unless you hate fifties music you'll have a good time, and if you're lucky (and a grandfatherly-looking man), you might even get a cameo role, and your photo taken with the cast. |

Best show in NYC. Love love love it. Review by: marvwondergirl, Jun 22, 2009 |
| I saw the Wonderettes 5 times and loved it every single time. I plan to go a 6th and 7th time (at least) this summer. The acting and singing is incredible and I have loved all of the different actresses, despite all of the original cast leaving. Everyone is wonderful, and they are so nice! The third time I went, my dad was Mr. Lee (you gotta see the show to get it) and I laughed my head off through the whole thing! It's definitely worth the ... read more cost for tickets. |

Not what I expected Review by: kkass, Jun 13, 2009 |
| I was a little disappointed in this show because I thought there would be more of a story to it. I love the 50s music, but by the second act it got kind of boring because it was the same thing just 10 years later. Too much singing and not enough of a story. |

Review by: Sloan, May 30, 2009 |
| I saw it twice within a week back in March and absolutely loved it - the entire cast was fabulous, the music was catchy, and the set and costumes were charming. Loads of fun and a great first show for people that are iffy about musicals - it was my mother's first musical in NYC and she loved it. The audience tends to lean towards having more senior citizens than average, but it has great energy and you're sure to leave the theatre smiling. |

This shows gets even better with multiple viewings Review by: Harriet, May 16, 2009 |
| I live in Manhattan, am a regular "serious theater-goer" and have now seen this show THREE times over two years. Whenever a friend comes to town who just want to "be happy" without a lot of expensive over-blown Broadway hype, I take them to this show. Each time I come out smiling and humming and my guest has had a wonderful time. |

I went to see this show with my 14 year old daughter, while I'm not a fan of 50's music, we both really liked the show. It was really cute and we both walked out with a big smile. I did notice that the majority of the audience was female. It was a fun afternoon. |
