The Lion King, a great show. Review by: Seung Ji & Young Man, Sep 7, 2009 |
| My girlfriend and I saw The Lion King this past weekend and loved it! It was very well-casted and the costumes were amazingly creative such that the performers looked like animals. Some of the dialogue felt a bit rushed, but I guess you need to when the show is over 2.5 hours long. A truly colorful, enjoyable show that we would recommend to all!! |

A Decent show with very good costumes, and singing. Review by: Jim, Jul 22, 2009 |
| I went to see The Lion King in 2004 and I enjoyed it. It is much better than tarzan and the little mermaid and almost as good as mary poppins. Rafiki was played by Tshidi Manye and she did very very good. She sang well and has quite the pair of pipes. I started getting chills up and down my spine. She was the best person out of the entire cast. |

Highly recommend ! Review by: Bonbon, Jul 19, 2009 |
| Loved the show. Was amazed how the jungle was brought to life via staging, costumes, puppets and props. Music little weak at times. Could have done better with "circle of life" ..could've made it bigger sounding.Scar and Mufaasa the best. Highly recommend the show for both young and old! |

Flatulence jokes?!? Review by: cc, Jul 17, 2009 |
| Nice production, great music, but what on earth is up with all the gas jokes? Disney brings vulgar, low-brow humor to an otherwise admirable production. Too bad.... Sound quality was off as well, couldn't hear the solo voices well. |

A Classic Review by: Steven, Jul 4, 2009 |
This show brings creativity to new heights, and although it is over 10 years old, it is still amazingly innovative. The director, Julie Taymor is a genius. I was not a big fan of the movie and didn't know how she would bring the characters to life, but her use of masks and puppets is incredible, not to mention all of the other creative moments in the show. This is true theatre. The opening number is one of the most thrilling ... read more theatrical experiences I have had in over 40+ years of theatre-going. This is a treat for the entire family (whenever I hear those words, I usually stay away, but in this case, it's true). Prepare to be wowed. |

A must see! Review by: rusticdragon20, May 18, 2009 |
| I went into the theater having heard the soundtrack, but not seeing the show in person, so I had almost no idea what to expect. I'm happy to say that I was surprised. The costumes and scenery were the best I have ever seen. The music was amazing, and the performers did the best job. I recommend this show to everyone. |

The highlight of our New York City vacation! Review by: sbeauty, May 15, 2009 |
| It was my first Broadway show, and I had no clue what to expect. We chose The Lion King, because in order to include our 4-year-old granddaughter, and she was enthralled the entire time. We had great seats almost down to the front, and when the "elephants" came down the aisle next to us, she got so excited. The adults loved the show just as much as she did. Our daughter-in-law, who was a theater major and who has gone to many Broadway shows, ... read more told us it was probably the best one she'd ever seen. The costuming was extraordinary, the staging was wonderful, and the actors did a masterful job. We'd recommend The Lion King to people of all ages. |

Entertaining, funny, and an overall excellent show! Review by: Brittany Jonas, Apr 19, 2009 |
| It was fantastic in the beginning, but I found myself daydreaming towards the middle, however, after the intermission it was AMAZING! btw, afterward, there is a special cast member in the lobby who you can meet and take a picture with for $20 and you can go backstage and meet all the stars for $300. It was also very funny! Especially Rafiki (hint, hint, who might possibly be in the lobby for a meet and greet). A must-see for anybody who is ... read more up for an experience that will change the way you look at the Lion King forever. |

WOWZER Review by: tiptop, Mar 16, 2009 |
| This show was the best live performance I have ever seen. The actors were fantastic and everyone from the dancers in the first row to the last row were in total performance mode. When you can hate the villain, you know he's great. My 11 year old's jaw dropped 5 inches from the opening scene. The show is definitely an expense but worth saving your dollars to see. |

The rumors are true: The Lion King is to die for Review by: Kayla, Feb 8, 2009 |
After hearing all the wonderful things about the Lion King musical, I finally got a chance to see it. Let me tell you, the rumors are true. The Lion King was created by choreographer Garth Fagan in 1997. That year, the play won a Tony Award for its choreography. With its captivating music, dancing, and colorful staging, it grabs you from start to finish. One of the best things about it is the music, of course. The cast is filled ... read more with phenomenal singers and unique dance choreography. The Play starts off grabbing you with the powerful voice of Rafiki, the monkey. Each time Rafiki comes on the stage, you are literally blown away with her vocals. She’s not the only one that can sing, however. Mufasa and Scar really deliver in their roles as lions, with their singing, roars, and deep lion voices. As for the main lion, Simba, and his girlfriend, Nala, they surprise you in a way where it’s hard to believe that seven year old actors playing their parts can have such talent. The grown up Simba and Nala also do a spectacular job. The hyenas, along with Timon and Pumba, provide some comical relief throughout the show. Another great thing about the show is the staging. It is filled with all kinds of color and remarkable scenic backdrops. It makes you actually feel like you are in the jungle, The Pride Lands, as well as the desert. Another thing that’s great about the stage is the way the actors use it. They branch out into the aisles and up on the balconies, surrounding their audience. I think that one of the most remarkable things about the play, however, is the costuming. Throughout the show, life-size giraffes, elephants, zebras, cheetahs, and antelope prance across the stage. Accompanying them are realistic birds that fly above your head. It is so amazing the way the elements fold all together. You almost forget that people are inside the costumes. The Lion King is a great show for audiences of all ages. Anyone who has seen the classic can really appreciate it, and those who haven’t will be in for a real treat. The only thing I suggest each audience member should do beforehand, is to listen to the soundtrack so you know the songs. Sometimes the lyrics can get lost behind the loud orchestra accompaniment, which could make you miss the plot or meaning.

Not Wow'd by the Lion King. Review by: thearelover, Feb 5, 2009 |
I am 17 and an advid Theatregoer, and will be starting college next year as a theatre major. While I did enjoy and respect the costumes, set and lighting, overall i did not enjoy the shows. I am the only person i know who did not overly enjoy the show. but for children, it is a good show to start their broadway experience. but The Little Mermaid is a must see! |
