Funny story and great singing. Review by: , Sep 8, 2008 |
| A very funny play with entertaining music and singing. I wish the stage would be bigger and the seat would not stoop down that much. But nevertheless it was a great play and worth seeing. Great acting, they cried on stage. |

It's pretty amazing that many people have criticized the book of this show, which is quite frankly one of its strongest suits. I saw this last Saturday and felt the cast was quite strong--please note that the cast I saw is different than the one that the people in front of me saw. |

Brilliant production Review by: Mary Ellen, Jul 24, 2008 |
| This is one of the classics, and the current revival production is amazing. The cast is one better than the next, the score is treated with such delicate brilliance. there were four of us in our group: one young child, one teenager, my mother who is in her sixties and myself, a 35 year old woman. we all loved it, even the teenager raved about it for days! we each found something to identify with. two hours of bliss. |

| I took a 10 year old and an 11 year old to see this play. They told their mother it was "awesome". And, I loved it too. I loved the humor and the creativity. |

An enchanting show Review by: Dollypop, Aug 6, 2007 |
I loved this show. It's simple and endearing. The cast is excellent and Nick Spangler has to have one of the best singing voice is New York right now. The rest of the cast is exemplary. It was wonderful to hear music played solely on a piano and harp.
Enchanting. |

Had Fun But .... Review by: JB, Jul 8, 2007 |
I thought the story line was weak and the acting a little erratic, but the singing was great and I had some great laughs. I had a lot of fun and I only paid $25 for the ticket.

Great family show! Review by: Amy, Jun 28, 2007 |
| I saw this on June 13, 2007 with my 3 daughters, age 12, 14 and 16. I went solely to see Anthony Fedorov as I have been a fan of his since he was on American Idol. We had front row seats and yes, the theater is very small but that just adds to the warmth of this show. There were only 8 actors in this production along with 2 musicians. The music and story are timeless and there is much humor in this show. My daughters really enjoyed this as ... read more did I. All of the actors were wonderful. Anthony was a joy to watch and hope to see more of him in the future! |

Go See It! Great changes have been made. Review by: am, Jun 25, 2007 |
| I saw it just a couple of weeks ago. The main roles of the girl and boy were played by new actors and they were excellent. The theater is small, but that adds some thing special to the performance. I would try and get sits in the center. This play is suppose to be performed in a small space. The man who wrote the play is in it. He plays the old funny actor. He also directed this production. It was wonderful. I would recommend seeing it. They ... read more have made good changes and the music is timeless. |

Awesome show! Review by: erin king, Apr 15, 2007 |
| I can't beleive people have given this a bad review. I went to this show in Feb 2007 and it was phenomenal. The singing, the acting, the story, the characters were great!!! We saw 4 shows while there and this was classic Broadway quality in a smaller theatre! It is a must see and a good deal! |

Don't waste your money!! Review by: pirate, Mar 28, 2007 |
| I read the previous reviews. I purchased tickets thru the TKTS booth for $40.00 each. I had not seen the original show, just read reviews. I thought it was a spoof of the original, but the longer I watched I realized it was not. I was very disappointed!! I live in a small town, but our local little theaters put on a better show than this. I am glad that I did see two other shows while I was in New York. Did the original ... read more have more/better scenery? I just keep looking at my companions and shaking my head. I still can't believe this is what I spend my money on. Luisa and Matt did have nice voices and I enjoyed the piano and harp- I kept trying to find something to make it worth my time and money. |

Pleasant Show Review by: Nedracine, Mar 15, 2007 |
You know the story. Boy meets girl. Parents interfere. Trial and Tribulation. Boy gets girl. Luisa really captured the giddiness and silliness of a sixteen year old girl. Her boyfriend Matt was a good counterpoint. Their musical abilities were strong. El Gallo was the common thread for the telling of the story. He sang "Try to Remember" near the beginning of the play making it feel too remote to me since there was not yet enough time to ... read more connect emotionally to the characters. The two fathers wore clown like costumes for no apparent reason. Only two musicians performed. Though they were excellent, more instruments may have enriched the score. I liked that some of the dialogue was in poetic verse. Sort of like Pop-Shakespeare. The humor at times seemed dated, sort of like Jerrry Lewis's physical stunts and gesticulations. Still there were some good laughs especially from Henry and Motimer. And get this: Thomas Bruce , who played Henry was in the original 1960 production. Wow! Overall a good show and a good value with discounted tickets. |
