Increadible voices, tender & funny acting, a treat for everyone ! Review by: denny, Mar 20, 2010 |
| If you love theatre, then this is the show you must see. I visit it every time I travel to NYC and so appreciate how they have replicated the original staging as much as possible. Nowhere will you find a better score, a more beautiful story and cleaver interpretations by all the actors. With the audience this close you need to be real and every time Ive seen it here at the Snapple, no matter who the cast is, I am instantly drawn in by the charm..... read more..even though we need to use our imagination it is totally believable and magical. Sit in the middle or as close as you can to get the full effect. The sparse sets & costumes add to the romance. Se it, see it, see it !!!! No matter what elese I see, on-broadway or off, this show is always my favorite. In my town Ive directed this and acted in it and if you want a superb example of how to do this show, then see this version. You will never regret it. |

Waste of time and money Review by: , Nov 26, 2009 |
| The Fantasticks show has been around for a long time so I figured that it must be decent. However, this was the worst show I have ever seen. Honestly, I have seen numerous high school productions that were much more entertaining than Fantasticks. The story line was weak, the costumes were elementary school level, and the show moved very slowly. Do not waste your money or your time going to Fantasticks. |

Boring play and absolutely the worst owner/manager ever!!!!! Review by: Insulted by the management, Oct 14, 2009 |
| I saw the play The Fantasticks this weekend and quite frankly I was seriously disappointed. Not only is the decor and props of less than high school quality (seriously my high school had better designs and stage sets than this) but the acting was not that great either (except for the 4 older gentlemen who play very funny parts that barely keep the show going given the amateur performances of the other leads). Considering that this play costs the ... read more same price as a TKTS Broadway show, I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, recommend this show to anyone until they do a complete overhaul of the production. Keep the older men though, they are the little bit of good in an otherwise fantastically poor and un-entertaining production. On top of it, when I found out that the box office sells tickets at a higher price than on this site, the owner/manager literally told me off, without hesitation, and suggested that I was an idiot for byuing tickets directly from them. She actually repeatedly called me bad names on the phone and hung up on me! Do not be surprised if you see me on the sidewalk protesting this theater its management. This is by far the least professional theater in all of NYC. Trust me I know, I live here and go out a lot. |

Very disappointing Review by: Vincenza, Sep 27, 2009 |
This is the silliest, most amateurish show I have ever seen. The dialogue is forced and not a bit funny. The music is mediocre at best, and the scenery and props at elementary school theatre level. I went to see it with my husband and son and all three of us agreed to leave at intermission since we couldn't stand the boredom. The actors are not bad and do the best they can with the paper thin material. A complete waste of ... read more time and money. |

Not fantastic Review by: Dee, Aug 6, 2009 |
| This show is really stripped down to the bare-essentials, which probably made an impact when it first came out some fifty years ago. To be honest, I didn't really like it. I couldn't figure out what was supposed to be so great about it. It was really standard and kind of boring. The acting and singing were good, but nothing beyond that. I didn't enjoy the plot either. Some people left at intermission, but other audience members seemed very ... read more enchanted by it all. I truly couldn't figure out why!! I felt ripped off by my $58 ticket. But if you're looking for a spectacle-free, simpler-times kind of show, you'll probably find that this one will do the trick. It just wasn't my kind of thing. |

Fantasticks Not Worth The It! Review by: Annie, Jul 27, 2009 |
| The Fantasticks was the worst show we had attended in N.Y. The actors were good but, the play it self was not. The show was dumb humor, stage was poor, not a good show for the amount of money, find another one to go to. Altar Boyz was very good compared to Fantasticks. Mary Poppins was excellent for only 30.00 more, very professional! |

I loved it! Review by: theater lover, Jun 19, 2009 |
| What a Fantastik show! I haven't seen it in 20 years but it is absolutely timeless. My discounted seat was first row center, and in such an intimate setting, it was one of my all time favorite theater experiences. Sweet, funny, smart, meaningful and endearing. Well acted, well directed. A couple in their twenties was to my left and a couple in their 60's to my right and all of us were laughing and smiling. Enjoy! I might just go again. |

The worst! Review by: Ellen, May 27, 2009 |
| We left at the intermission. This was the worst show we have ever seen and we go to a lot of Broadway, off Broadway and local theater productions in NJ. Out of 4 of us, no one could understand how this has lasted so long as a show. We went because we thought if it was running for so long it must be good. This is the first show I ever walked out on. It was terrible. Don't waste your money. I don't recommend this show for anyone. |

Sweet and Funny, a Must See! Review by: cfar, Feb 6, 2009 |
| It was absolutely charming. I took a friend from out of state to go see it and we both loved it! I would like to my mom now as well. Extreme minimalism which works amazingly for the show. Thought it was cast perfectly and can't wait to see it again! |

Review by: Peterw, Feb 6, 2009 |
The Fantasticks was good Especially the "Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow" Lyrics, but seriously it was interseting, and I was curious because I had heard of the Fantasticks as being like a "classical" musical so I wanted to see what it was about. The theater was ok, but very cold so take a jacket with you - we were freezing, on the left side of the theater especially. Go if you've seen everything else ... read more already, or have never seen any at all.. |

Not Fantastic Review by: Mr. C, Nov 19, 2008 |
I went a few weeks ago with my daughter to see a Wedesday matinee. The small theater wasn't even half filled. I was surprised that this show has been so successful over the years. The plot is thin and the scenery is amateuristic at best. |

The show went far beyond our expectaions!!! Review by: , Oct 18, 2008 |
| A great show with amazing actors. Very small theater which is really good because the actors are directly in front of your face and is incredibly intimate. It was funny, fast-paced and just overall entertaining! The girl actually legitimately started crying! The entire cast is great. We loved it! |

Fantasticks is FANTASTICK Review by: jp, Oct 5, 2008 |
| The FANTASTICKS is back better than ever, though I didn't know it had left. This classic has the most glorious music, and the man who plays El Gallo has an incredible voice. The love couple Matt and Luisa are adorable, particularly Matt(Nick Spangler) who is on the Amazing Race with his sister. There are no swear words so you can take your 8yr old and your Granny, and everyone will be happy. |
