The Boychick Affair is a pleasant alternative that will make you smile when you are tired of over-hyped Broadway shows. Review by: Baltasar D. Cruz, Nov 30, 2009 |
If you are tired of over-hyped Broadway shows and want to smile at some cornball humor in a festive environment, The Boychick Affair is a pleasant lowbrow alternative. The actors are energetic and amusing and will welcome you to Harry Boychick's Bar Mitzvah and then mingle with the audience during much of the show, which is upbeat and entertaining. Harry's family is silly and the characters delight in embarrassing each other and Harry ... read more on his big day, when they are not working hard to involve the audience in pleasant one-on-one chit-chat and the festivities. A buffet is served during the Bar Mitzvah which, at the performance I attended, consisted of sweet and sour chicken (good), lomein noodles (good), fried rice (good), and a chinese beef and pepper dish (not so good), as well as a dry chocolate brownie (disappointing), all of which were available in generous quantities and did not run out. (After the performance, the actors ate from this buffet, so there was plenty of food even for seconds.) Only water was served free of charge with the meal that was included in the ticket price (of $45.00 at the theater; $40.00 for seniors) and a soda cost $5.00 at The Midtown Theater venue. The Boychick Affair is not high drama, but it is entertaining and will make you smile. See it with a friend or a date as a change of pace when you are feeling down, lonely, or disappointed that you wasted money on an over-hyped show the night before, and the Boychick Affair will cheer you up! |

I LOVE BOYCHICK!! Review by: Dr. K, Jul 22, 2009 |
| This was a great show. I've seen Tony and Tina's, but Boychick is in a class by itself. My wife and I have never had this much fun at a play... one of the best dates we've ever had! (Thanks Boychicks!) We're seeing it again with some friends in August. I recommend it to anyone looking to laugh, sing, dance and have a great time! |
