the blue flower shouldnt have been allowed to bloom Review by: quiff, Nov 26, 2011 |
considering its been in development since a tdf run in 2004, you would expect blue flower to be in top notch order, but alas not. each of the components works reasonably well independently but together its a terrible mess - the blue flower should not have been allowed to bloom! the performances by marc kudish, teal wicks and sebastian areculus were excellent, and at times i felt embarassed for these top notch broadway performers who at times ... read more seemed embarassed to be appearing in this show! |

Needs Work Review by: Jim-NJ, Oct 22, 2011 |
| The performers are top-notch. The staging is decent but the story is needlessly disjointed. This is the story of a older German artist (seemingly semi-based on Max Baumann) and his looking back on his life and a few friends with emphasis on the tragedy of the 2 world wars. It takes a long time and a lot of thought to fully get this point. As a result, you are looking at scattered moments of his reflections with no good rhythm. Some songs work, ... read more some don't. Seemed needlessly overly experimental to the point where some of the staging looked like a compensation for problems with the storyline. |
