Different, Refreshing and Modern Review by: Quick, Sep 19, 2011 |
The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco. What an experience! Refreshingly different, challenging and modern – this play can only be understood if you gets its point, which is that language is useless, words fail to communicate; they are “cheapened by overuse and doublespeak”. Premiered in Paris in 1950, this 1 hour and 5 minute absurdist play is definitely not for everyone. However, if you are someone who likes the surreal or become amused by ... read more watching intelligent nonsense, this “anti-play” is a real treat! "Language should almost break up or explode in its fruitless effort to contain so many meanings" - Eugene Ionesco Grade: B+
