Don't take a bite from this rotten "APPLE TREE" Review by: Movie123Man, Dec 13, 2006 |
| Wait, did everyone see the same show that I did? This show was such a mess that I wish I could get my money back. That is not to say that the performers didn't make the most of the material, but the material is what is at issue. It is dated and a true shame that, especially in the last portion of the musical, Ms. Chenoweth is made to say "look at me, look at me" in a musical that offers so little to the viewer besides the obvious talents ... read more of the leads. I hope this musical closes quickly so that all concerned can move on to far more worthy and fitting projects. |

A Qualified "Yes".... Review by: Leen, Dec 11, 2006 |
| Let me preface this by saying we saw Wicked the day before we saw The Apple Tree. I can only imagine how fabulous Kristin Chenoweth was in Wicked...she is certainly the main reason, if not the only reason, to see The Apple Tree. Of the three plays within a play (all about relationships between the sexes), the first about Adam and Eve is the most entertaining...at least for the first three quarters of it. After that, the play slides ... read more into "disappointing" and ends with "well, at least these were not full price tickets." That said, Kristin Chenoweth is worth seeing and hearing—her voice and presence as well as the laughs of the first act will be what you remember. |

Take a Bite of This Apple! Review by: Carol, Dec 11, 2006 |
| This is a thoroughly delightful revival of the Alan Alda-Barbara Harris original in 1966. Kristin Chenowith has the audience in stitches as Eve. The acting is wonderful, and so is the music. It's one of the best on Broadway this season. |

A GEM on the shoulders of Kristin Chenoweth! Review by: broadwaybaby, Dec 10, 2006 |
| Saw it on preview on 12/8/06. Fabulous!! Three simple stories brought to amazing life by the versetile talent of Kristin Chenoweth. Funny and sweet! I laughed and cried and laughed again and again. I'm not sure how far this can make it since an eventual recasting may hurt it. I cannot picture anyone other than Kristin Chenoweth in those roles. But, as it it, I enjoyed it immensely! |

Kristen is Spectacular! Review by: Kate, Dec 9, 2006 |
| Great show! Kristen is spectacular, just like in wicked she lights up the stage whenever present. Lots of Humor and good songs. I wish they sold the CD. Every seat is a good one. I sat in the last row of the rear Mez and still could see well. If your a big fan of Kristen wait at the stage door for her on 53st. She signs everything and talks to everyone. She is such a sweetheart! |

brilliant chenoweth Review by: cd , Dec 4, 2006 |
| Kristen Chenoweth is brilliant - 3 seperate plots and somehow linked together - Kristen shows why she sells out halls on her own - supporting cast is good and they act out the timeless story of adam and eve & the lady or the tiger in a well done modern fashion set is minimal but it works |

Light, pleasant entertainment -- not an obvious candidate for Bway revival Review by: www.stagestrucknyc.com, Nov 23, 2006 |
| Saw The Apple Tree last year at City Center Encores, with Kristen Chenowith, same director, etc. There are three separate episodes, no through plot: (Adam and Eve, The Lady or the Tiger, and a fantasy about a charwoman with a dual life.) While it is a very light and pleasant affair overall, it certainly did not impress me as a musical that must be revived on Bway, and I cannot remember the music at all. I am puzzled by the decision to invest ... read more in a full Bway production. Chenowith is very charming and worth seeing in just about anything. |
