Don't Bother Review by: lainie, Dec 7, 2012 |
| The show was boring. Dialogue - not conversational, obtuse and uninteresting. Show lasted 60 minutes, but that was 60 minutes too long. What was the point of seemingly going on and on with the same subject? Actors tried their best, but were wasted on this show. Very disappointing. |

Thumbs down Review by: Lini, Nov 30, 2012 |
| The most disappointing play I have seen all year and I am usually a David Mamet fan. really hated it. All talk, poor development, one note acting and staging. I like plays of ideas but this missed on every count. |

David Mamet’s play The Anarchist Review by: Carol, Nov 29, 2012 |
The real-life Kathy Boudin, convicted in connection with a 1981 robbery of a Brink's truck that left two policemen and a Brink's guard dead., was paroled on September 18, 2003.after 22 years as a model prisoner. David Mamet’s play The Anarchist deals with the confrontation of Cathy (Patti Lupone) and Ann (Debra Winger). In a 70-minute production, Cathy argues that she has paid her debt to society and deserves to be free to see her dying father. ... read more Ann counters with the cold-blooded killing of the police officers and the devastating effect their deaths had on their families. That’s the gist of it. In Mamet’s language: hesitating stilted, and perseverating, the dialogue becomes almost intolerable. No one speaks like that, and although each actress portrays the character expertly, the play becomes tiresome within the first few minutes. This is another acting exercise, but it is not gripping theater. It’s talky and soporific worthy of another expensive nap on Broadway.

Very Good, but....... Review by: bwaydannyrose, Nov 24, 2012 |
| Great acting - very good script - dialogue intensive. Play is severely hampered by 2 actors sharing the same set for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Can't see this being a hit with critics – definitely not tourists. Too bad – a must see for Mamet enthusiasts. |

Loved LuPone's Performance...Play is Disappointing Review by: Bill from Long Beach, Nov 22, 2012 |
| I was hoping for some fireworks, but there were none. The play abruptly ended and I ended up wondering what the point was. This is definbitely not a crowd pleaser...no climax...Patti LuPone gave a great performance...Debra Winger was good, but seemed to have lost her place in the script a few times. |

The Anarchist Review by: AnarchistReview, Nov 21, 2012 |
I do not agree with what people are saying about this show. I thought it was great. I really can't say much without giving away the whole plot, but I thought the story was interesting adn the play really made you think. Also, Ms. LuPone and Ms. Winger are more comfortable in their roles now and Debra is now pushing back on Patti more. Ms. Winger made a WONDERFUL Broadway debut and La LuPone is always perfection in my opinion. If you have ... read more no tolerance for straight plays or one of the two women you will not enjoy this performance. They are the only people on stage the entire night. This is a must-see for the extreme Patti fans and for anyone who enjoys Debra's movies. The sets, costumes, and lights were all good. Ms. LuPone must be the kindest, most gracious woman at the stagedoor. She is completely down to earth despite her popularity and fame. |

belongs off-broadway Review by: rose, Nov 14, 2012 |
| This was a majorly disappointing Mamet drama. It's repetative, boring and short. During the matinee I attended, some people walked out mid show. Although the acting was good, I'm not sure why these actors signed on. It belongs in a small off-broadway house. |
