Mercedes Ruehl gives a wonderful performance yet the show itself has weaknesses Review by: theatremaven, Jan 14, 2009 |
This was an interesting show. Staged beautifully. Mercedes Ruehl is the reason to go see this show. Her performance is excellent. However, Lily Rabe does not fit the casting of a Jewish daughter in the catskills of the 1960s. Rabe was very heard to hear at times and her diction was not pronounced. The story is an interesting one but had many intricacies that were not developed or could have simply been left out making for a more ... read more cohesive better gelled story. Overall, I enjoyed the show. I would recommend but with some reservations. |
