Incredibly entertaining!! Review by: Tricia, Mar 11, 2012 |
| 3/11 Hippodrome (Baltimore) My friend wanted me to go with her and I was expecting it to be average at most. I was pleasantly surprised. It was one of the best shows I have EVER seen. It made me laugh and cry. The singing and dancing was awesome. I just loved everything about it. Gomez was the most outstanding of them all but I truly loved all the actors!!! Incredible!!!! |

Great show!! Review by: Maryb, Jan 11, 2012 |
| This was my sons (ages 13, 10 and 9) first Broadway show and they loved it. In fact the entire family loved it. The music was catchy and there were lots of laughs. I thought Brooke Shields did a fine job. |

We went to see this show, thinking it would be a fun evening out. At the last minutes, we were able to get 8th row/center seats for 1/2 price at the theatre....this should have told us something. As delicious as Brooke Shields was to see, up close and in a very low cut dress, the rest of the show....well, was misery. At the intermission, we debated whether to stay, and opted to leave and save the rest of the night. I have to say that ... read more this was the absolute!! worst professional show I have ever seen, not even Ms. Shields could save it! |

Surprising Good. Review by: Will, Nov 14, 2011 |
| Excellent play. Great lead actors, as well as support cast. The set was fantastic. A very enjoyable evening for my whole family ( wife and 2 teenage girls). This show was worth the price for sure. I recommend this show to anyone. |

Two finger snaps good! Review by: Tony B, Nov 12, 2011 |
Remember that night that it snowed in October right before Halloween? Well that's the night I saw this show, and, I have to tell you it was worth the 3 hours (normally a 30 minute trip) it took to get into Manhattan to see this show. Brooke Shields was a wonderful Mortica, and, the entire cast was spot on. Ok, sure the girl playing Wednesday had a rather annoying voice, and, the boy playing Pugsley wasn't as good as he could have been but ... read more it didn't take away from the show. Remember folks, this isn't Shakespeare... It's simply a light hearted play based on the comic strip (not the television show) "The Addams Family". I'm just sad it is closing at the end of the year. I have friends coming in from the West coast in the summer (2012) and I know they would have loved this show. Go see it while you still have a chance! |

Review by: THEATREFANOVER50, Nov 3, 2011 |
| Was hesitant to see this, but friends wanted to see this, so we took the shot. The headliners were so-so, but the stars were the actresses that played Wednesday and the mother from Ohio. That was the true talent. The leads were terrible at projection and not theatre worthy. The story plot was weak and the comedy weaker. The biggest disappointment was the tango which was so lack luster and boring, no passion, no Cara Mia fever, Brooke was ... read more just terrible... I could almost hear the counting of steps. Kudos to the newbie actress that played Wednesday, she was the true talent in the bunch. Besides, Cousin It was only a cameo and Thing only as the opener of the stage opener. Where was the famous doorbell ring? Disappointment all the way round. Not Bad, but definitely disappointing. I expected more....should have listened to my gut. Glad I got the discount tickets. |

Not worth seeing Review by: jesse, Oct 23, 2011 |
| Wow. How can people actually like this so much. This was terrible. The first half was average but funny enough to stay for the rest . that was a big mistake. the 2nd half was a hodge podge of very poorly written songs. You could tell that they were filler songs. To be honest the only decent song in the whole show was "Crazier than You". You know how you leave a good show and have a couple of the songs stuck in your head for a good week. ... read more That won't happen here. There was no standing ovation and Rodger Reeve has a very annoying singing voice. |

Light and entertaining Review by: Mr. C, Sep 1, 2011 |
| An entertaining show for adults and children of all ages although some of the adult humor would go over the heads of the youngsters. Overall the acting was good; we saw it when the sub for Wednesday was in it and she was outstanding. |

They're creepy and they're kooky, but certainly not worth a looky. Review by: kapnkool, Jul 31, 2011 |
| It's never a good thing when the ensemble cast of dead ghouls overshadows the main cast. And that is what ultimately turns "The Addams Family" from a very good musical to just a mediocre one. Brooke Shields is stiff in her performance, you see it in her dancing and the manner in which she delivers her lines. I know I'll catch heat from some people saying "well, she's supposed to be morose" but it goes beyond that. As someone else mentioned here, ... read more Angelica Huston in the film performance truly delivered the role of Morticia. Here, Brooke looks like a deer in headlights. Gomez fares better, but I kept seeing a Shakespearian actor lacking vocal talent, instead of the suave Latin American Gomez we knew from the TV show. I thoroughly enjoyed Uncle Fester and Grandma..you could tell that they were both born to play the role. Wednesday did an admirable job and had a nice vocal range, I wasn't too keen on Pugsley however. Voice, mannerisms were just irritating. The stage design is terrific, and the songs are better than your average film to Broadway transition. But overall I left the theater only somewhat entertained. This is not a musical I would tell people is a must see. It's just OK, and there are far better productions that you should spend your hard earned money on. |

Pleasantly Surprised Review by: Judy L., Jul 28, 2011 |
Pleasantly Surprised. By the show, by Brooke Shields, by the sets, by the Black Light Theater of Uncle Fester, by the fact that even though my son chose the show, and I never would have chosen it inthe end it was very funny and intelligent and really touched your heart in some points. They may be wacky , but actually a lot of these issues are really heart felt and at the end of the evening you go home with a smile. Also spend your intermission ... read more looking around the theater, they really have decorated it very nicely and in character. |

Great Moments, But Just O.K. Show. Brook Shields Should be Replaced Review by: Atl2015, Jul 27, 2011 |
| Show had great moments, but was not a great show. Brook Shields is not a natural musical Broadway talent. She doesn't have the combination of acting/singing skills a true broadway performer has. You can tell she received excellent training, but her performance was stiff and she failed to bring the smile and humor that Angelica Houston was so amazing at bringing to the role. The Uncle Fester character, Wednesday character were ... read more terrific - but they were the only two that rate the true top rating. Rees, who plays Gomez, does a top notch acting job in the role (he is a Tony winning actor), but his singing here doesn't match the level of his acting and the role calls for both. The actor paling the grandmother is terrific, but her role is limited. The background dancers and singers actually overshadow Brook Shields in grace and singing talent and I actually felt bad for Ms. Shields that their presence highlighted her inability to pull off a female Broadway musical lead. She was like a very talented High Schooler in a room full of professionals. It's almost unfair because the background actors have had passion and training for Broadway and undergo a much more rigorous selection process than she did - because she was picked for her celebrity name and ability to sell tickets. The irony is that I chose to see it because I was curious whether Brook Shields could pull off a lead Broadway role, and so she sold he ticket, but was the most disappointing part of the production. |
