"Tails" musical -- an adorable dog story not to be missed! Review by: Greatest fan, Jul 4, 2006 |
This musical was an adorable show about five dogs in a pound and their personal views of the world and people they lived with. The show has lots of good music and comedy, and excellent acting by top notch actors, all of whom give their very best to make this show lots of fun for the audience as well as inspire a better understanding of what it's like to be a dog in a pound. Each dog has his/her story--happy and sad. This is a ... read more fast moving, energetic musical that will touch the hearts of all who see it. I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing it several times, and loved each time. It was truly a phenomenal experience. Too bad it closed. |

Lots of fun for this dog lover. Review by: Steve, Jun 23, 2006 |
| This show really gets you into dog's heads. Anyone who owns a dog can marvel at how well the story depicts what may be their heads. There's one funny scene where the dogs are talking about humans and one of them says something like "I wonder what is going on in those little heads - how much do they really understand." That struck a note with any dog lover in the audience (there must have been many because it caused an immediate loud ... read more response.) Needless to say as a dog lover, I'm also a Tails lover. It was a great night out. |

THEY MUST BE KIDDING. Review by: JONATHAN, Jun 22, 2006 |
| The previous reviewers must be cast members or their family. When what should have been chuckles and smiles at attempts of smartness, cuteness and witicisms were laaunched by the cast, they were met by silence and boredom. I know, I looked at the young and old about me and all I saw was apathy. Good try at connecting with the audience, but all previous animal related plays in the past far outdoor this one. |

TAILS OF THE CITY Review by: TOM, Jun 22, 2006 |
I had the fortunate experience last night to see the new Off Broadway show tails. Expecting to see the K9 version of Cats, I was a little hesitant, but being a dog lover and owner myself, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. What I walked out with was an even deeper love for man's best friend and a better sense of how we as a society look upon and treat our pets.
The superb cast made you just fall in love with them and want to take ... read more them all home before their NUMBER was finally up.
The play was both funny and touching and the cast has you believing that it's the dogs that are the smart ones and we are just these wacky people who think we're entertaining them.....(and How true).
If you get the chance it is totally worth the ticket and is a fun night out.

Loved it! Review by: tab, Jun 19, 2006 |
| I was at the opening yesterday. It was as good as I was told that it would be. I came with my father and daughter and the three of us were standing at the end with most of the rest of the audience. Bring tissues - it's funny but heartbreaking. Also wear cool clothes - the a/c is not great. |

Do not miss this show - it's worth a trip to NY! Review by: bwayjeff, Jun 19, 2006 |
| This is one of the best musicals I've ever seen. It has a great sad/funny story and the music is really tuneful and complex. Even though it is basically a serious subject (dogs in a pound waiting to be adopted), it has very funny moments and the end, though bittersweet, is ultimately uplifting and optimistic. There is a song where the other dogs teach a new one to fetch (they call it "go-getting") that is hysterical. "Breathe It In" has ... read more fantastic lyrics and even though they may be specific to the dogs, are universal to the human condition. |

Moving and funny, extremely well told Review by: Mytwocents, Jun 16, 2006 |
| A terrific show. Nicely dark, playful, funny and moving. I took a hyper ten-year-old who'd never seen live theater before, and she was utterly engaged. Grab a kid (8 or 9 or older) or go without one--the audience when I went was almost completely child-free. |
