Yawn! Quite bad! wished we missed this bomb. Review by: ZolaZ, Apr 5, 2011 |
| terrible piece! word murder, boring and visually gaudy! Thin story meets unimaginative designs. I've seen much better work from companies that use real ideas and have far less money to waste. Over acted and badly staged. we wanted to walk out but toughed it out for two hours!! exceptionally poor work from this group. |

Spy Garbo Not Becket but worth a look Review by: Slater99, Mar 9, 2011 |
| I'm usually pretty open to new plays and likewise rather forgiving as I know first hand how difficult it is to produce an original play. while it's first 15 min were intriguing the remaining 2hrs(??) were difficult to process. there were several stories at once which is usually a sign of a script not being adapted properly for the stage. While i appreciated the set and video design , it was often gratuitous and predictable. Three dead and tragic ... read more men chat out their issues with no resolution. i felt it would have been better to have the play staged in a conventional theater with sets (this had none) so i could have seen the actors faces. All in all an interesting melodrama but ill-concieved in term of the way it was presented. Still worth a look |

| Spy Garbo is an intellectual and visual feast of a show. Intelligent, probing, provocative intellectually and technologically extra-ordinary! We are looking forward to seeing it again! |

| Anyone looking for a theater experience that's all about ideas and performance, presented in an historical context, and delivered in an explosion of multi-media extravaganza then Spy Garbo is a must see for you. |

Spy what?? Not a fun time. Review by: downtowner, Mar 8, 2011 |
A sleeper, saw it tonight and its a real sleeper. Starts nowhere and then goes no where. I wish people would write honest reviews rather than obviously trying to pump the show. I couldn't follow the text, when i did it was dreary. Poor staging uh, no staging really. lots of old distorted movie clips but not used in a smart way most of the time. A few cool moments. If you like distant and foggy ruminations about men and war then ... read more this is the show for you. not great. |

Technically Dazzling, Thoroughly Professional Review by: peripatetic, Mar 8, 2011 |
| A kind of multimedia installation complete with documentary projections, holograms and live(very good)actors. Not so much a play as a thought-provoking meditation on three personalities and a complicated period of history. Spy Garbo is informative and technically dazzling. |

Spy Garble Review by: dancingfool, Mar 8, 2011 |
| I went to see Spy Garbo due to a friend in the cast so i had no preconceived notions, which is my favorite way to see theater, film etc. I was initially thrilled by the opening moments and monologues. The actors are spectacular!! and the set design and music all created a sense of anticipation..here's the bad news: over what seemed hours, the play lost it's direction..too much time was spent in tangents and the actors just had to stand around ... read more like they were in a rehearsal waiting to deliver lines. It seemed that so much more could have "happened" on the stage they never really argued their points to satisfaction and they never showed any intense emotions towards each other, I "heard" them at times say things that could have been made into much larger and needed dramatic points. I seemed like a rough draft script that was just read out loud by actors.. so after a while all the video became invisible as i struggled to accept that nothing else from a dramatic sensibility was coming my way. I heard it in the language but they never stopped to explore anything. So what started as mind-blowing became mind-numbing. Too many theater companies masquerade as "experimental" as an excuse for bad theater with special effects, video or shock elements. I really go to theater to be entertained, feel or learn something but i came away from this very cold and frankly annoyed, Not because it wasn't filled with talent (because it was) but because the principles that make a drama were just neglected or misunderstood and thats inexcusable. |

theater as a 2011 experience Review by: proud New Yorker, Mar 8, 2011 |
| This is a performance for anyone interested in ideas - a wonderfully researched exploration of men and history. It is also for anyone interested in technology, and what technology today is capable of. |
