Truly best!! Review by: Pop, Mar 14, 2008 |
| This is the best show I have seen. It is truthful, unique, and provocative. Great music too. However, this show is not for close-minded people or those who want to see fairy-tale kind of story with a beautiful high-budget stage. |

Profound Review by: AznDaae, Mar 2, 2008 |
I loved this show. It really brought out the feelings of teens and showed that they were the same as they were years ago. The fact that there is sex in it is used only to enhance the show, not seem pornographic. It really makes people think about how daunting it really is to go through pueberty and shows that not everyone handles it the same way. Spring Awakening may not have had the the glitter and glam that Hairspray had, ... read more or the big dance numbers of A Chorus Line, but it contained what I feel all musicals have: a messege. This one was profound and deep and really made me think. |

Great Show Review by: Bigge, Mar 1, 2008 |
I thought it was wonderful. Music was fresh and different. Cast was tremendously talented. If you had problems with the content then you must have forgotten what it was like to be young and full of questions. Pertains as much today as it did in 1890. Nothing taking place on stage isn't happeing with anyone's sons or daughters today. And if you think it isn't...watch the News. Suicide/murders at schools, teens cutting themseleves so ... read more they can feel something, teen pregnancy, kids trying to figure out what they are all about...Remember? I loved it!! I'm 44 and while I wouldn't take my 11 and 9 year old, I would absolutely take at 15 and 17. |

Read My Review Review by: Pianist718, Feb 16, 2008 |
Ok, I consider my self an open minded person and have seen quite a few Broadway and Off Broadway shows. This one disappointed a bit. If you're looking to laugh a lot, this is not a show for you. There were maybe 3-6 times people laughed and it was to a silly thing. This show IS different and it tries very hard to be unique, daring and new. Problem is ... it was not backed up by amazing acting that a show like this needs. Listen I ... read more am a 26 year old (straight and able) guy. But this show was obsessing too much about sex and not even in a tasteful matter. Reminded me of guys who see (sleep with) a girl once a year and buy a cake to celebrate. Story was not that great and it did feel like an overrated high school play. If you want to see great acting and stage production... see Phantom of the Opera. If you want to laugh a lot, see Hairspray. Some people will love Spring Awakening, but all those 2007 Tony awards this show got was probably for effort to be different and unique. |

Mesmerizing, moving show; terrific score; Jonathan Groff is awesome! Would see it again! Review by: Bren's Mom, Feb 12, 2008 |
| I saw this play on February 10th with my two daughters, ages 17 & 19. To say the least, we absolutely loved it! The score is haunting and mesmerizing; the ensemble cast was fantastic. This play perfectly captures the feelings of teenage angst and first stirrings of sexuality. The cast took the time to speak to fans after the show and sign autographs. Jonathan Groff has a terific smile & an amazing acting career ahead of him! |

The Worst, the worst, the worst....... Review by: BroadwayBabe, Jan 26, 2008 |
| I went with my 16 year old daughter to see Spring Awakening, a sorry excuse for a Broadway production. By the time intermission rolled around we both looked at each other wondering if we were really seeing a Broadway show or if by some token of the imagination they changed this into high way robbery (over $100 per ticket) for a middle school presentation. The story line was WEAK. The music, possibly acceptable, was camouflaged by a truly ... read more dismal production. Not only is this show inappropriate for audiences of all ages, it is inapprorpiate for Broadway! |

Incredible Review by: bob, Jan 14, 2008 |
| This show blew me away. Everything was fantastic: the lights, the music, the acting, and the story and themes. The staging was unique and beautiful. Blake Bashoff was phenomenal as Moritz. Love this show - one of the best on Broadway! |

Utterly disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review by: danceman, Jan 8, 2008 |
| I am horrified and disgusted! I just saw the show and wanted to throw up. How dare we call this art. I am a professional director and educator and I am ashamed. WHAT IS NEXT? As a member of Equity myself I am pleading for our union to do something about this! Please don't go and support this show. Will we be applauding murder on stage next? The creators have a problem. I can't fathom blocking a few of those scenes with minors. WOW! |

I LOVED THIS SHOW Review by: lex, Dec 30, 2007 |
| I am 15 years old. and saw this on december 22 with my family of two paretns and an older boy of 17. i have the music at home and listened to it previous the performance and i already loved it. all of the acotrs are talented and have wonderful voices. i have not one bad thing to say about this. for those people out there who are saying 'dont go' and 'terrible' and 'kiddie porn' you just dont have the patience to sit through a wonderful ... read more production of young adults going through real situations in their lives. yes peopl edid have sex, and people did get raped, but that happens in the real world. and its good to have everyone see that. ialso. i went after by the stage door to see the actors and even though it was a matenee. and they dont usually coem out,. they did and absolutely LOVED talking to everyone, signing, and taking photos with their fans. So, in my opinion i love this show! |

Long live Spring Awakening. Review by: Dramamama, Dec 29, 2007 |
This is the 3rd time I've seen this show. It is one of the most moving and beautiful theatrical experiences.
Please note: I am not a teeny bopper, but an adult that works with young people. While I can understand that this kind of raw show is NOT for everyone, it is touching, real and a bit frightening.
The cast's energy is utterly amazing. They are the most dedicated cast I've ever seen. And for this type of show they need to ... read more be.
YES, the story deals with some heavy issues, and yes they are magnified for theatrical purposes. But they are thought provoking and meaningful. The story is universal and timeless. People will argue that kids don't really feel this way...but they do...at one time or another, or they know people that feel this way.
The sexuality is raw, and touching, and funny. The stage is swirling with energy, color, light and beauty.
Sadly, the Tony Award winner John Gallagher, Jr has just left the show, but his replacement: BLAKE BASHOFF is amazing. (Personally, I actually like him a bit more than Gallagher -- who was wonderful.) Kate Burton has temporarily taken over the role as the Adult Women and does an impressive job. I'm not as thrilled with Spinella's replacement at the Adult Men, but he's fine.
This show is for anyone that is young (but I wouldn't bring anyone under the age of 14) or works with young people or just remembers what it was like to be young.
Stage seats are wonderful...but I suggest seeing it from the house from the first time. |

Outstanding Review by: go see this show, Dec 28, 2007 |
| I saw the show on 12/16 and I have to say it was quite possibly the best show I have ever seen. I am 20 years old and an avid theater goer and I enjoyed myself immensly. I don't understand why so many people want to compare this musical to Rent, which I have seen 3 times, because they are two completely different musicals that only have the use of popular music in common. From what I can tell, those who do not enjoy this ... read more groundbreaking and heartwrenching show are very conservative people who refuse to see the beauty that is created in this tragic musical. The acting is sensational, especially the 20-somethings of the principal cast, and the songs are absolutely incredible. My recommendation is for all to see it, unless you're an extremely conservative republican. |

Deep and profound Review by: Reviewer of many musicals, Dec 27, 2007 |
This show was the best musical i have ever seen. It was profound and touched upon the many situations that everyday teens go through. It was deeply moving and really made me think. People have told me that they do not like the show because of the nudity, but I feel that it was included to help further the story. Just because there is nudity that does not mean that it's some sort of strip show. Spring Awakening is for deep, ... read more profound people who want to think. Best show of all time. |
