Actors are very professional, EVEN IF THERES AN ONSTAGE FIGHT. Review by: Alexis, Nov 7, 2008 |
| I went to see Spring Awakening for the 2nd time last weekend. I had 2nd row seats, and it was so amazing. Hunter Parrish is an amazing melichor (But Jonathan Groff is still the best) and its such a great performance. At my visit to the show, some man stupidly was being rude during the show and was tackled to the ground on stage while the show was going on. The actors left the stage and when the man was escorted out, they all went ... read more back onstage and were so professional about the situation. If you honeslty haven't seen this, GO NOW. |

Spare yourself - this is a big zero Review by: Jo, Oct 29, 2008 |
| My partner and I love plays, but this one is a stinker and we both hated it. There were 20 songs (I counted at intermission because I wanted to know how much longer I would be required to sit through it), all of which sounded the same and which seemed to make this play drag on forever. The first four or five were about feeling horny - one song would have been quite enough to get the point across. The voices were good but the acting was all ... read more exuberance or tragedy, with no build up or subtlety. There was a lot of stomping, for some reason. |

A Bit Flawed but Lively and Charming Review by: Jay, Oct 8, 2008 |
I usually hate and thus avoid any of the so-called "rock opera" sorts of shows. Even RENT left me cold... too loud, too difficult to discern the lyrics, too hip and relevant to be quite real. But SPRING AWAKENING was a good three or four notches above the cut, I think. The young cast is energetic and talented, although Hunter Parrish - cute as he is - seems a bit too diminutive and stiff for the role of the rebellious Melchior. He ... read more does have a pleasant, though still immature singing voice and I think he'll grow into other parts in time. But the overall effect of the show - its conflagration of youthful obsessions with sex and independence in stark contrast to abusive and unsympathetic (read pathetic) adult "morality" - is charming in its presentation of the budding eroticism of its teenage heroes. The songs reflect nicely their jumbled and contradictory mess of frustration, passion and wistfulness. See it. I may actually see it again! |

SPRING AWAKENING REVISITED Review by: jp, Oct 4, 2008 |
Just saw SPRING AWAKENING again with the new cast....and they are amazing.Hunter Parrish can sing, act and is a gorgeous hunk. Alexandra brings a pure innocence to Wendla. It is too bad that many adults are too uptight to get the poignant message that this beautiful sensitive show imparts.Everyone has to go through adolescence(like it or not) to become an adult.....and the music is so memorable. Hope it has a long life on ... read more Broadway!I think it is better than RENT. |

Spring Awakening Rocks! Review by: springawakeningFREAK, Oct 4, 2008 |
| This show is probably the best show on broadway right now! I am 13 and I saw the show last night October 3rd and loved it! I saw the show with my dad and he loved it to. The scenes weren't uncomfortable to watch, everyone has to remember that the material is done tastefully and for entertainment value. The show is not for kids but teens such as me would LOVE it! I would see it again in a heart beat. My favorite show of all time! |

WHy did I pay money for this? Review by: Jules, Oct 3, 2008 |
I saw "spring Awakening" Last night. It was the first time I ever left a broadway show during intermission. MY husband And I were both confused as to how on earth this production even made it to Broadway. It was my birthday, and I was kind enough to myself to leave before I had to suffer through another hour - also the theater was very stuffy and reaking of perfume and smoke. I think I need to see "wicked" or "avenue Q" again !

Review by: Brynne, Sep 14, 2008 |
If you haven't seen this show, you have to get there NOW. I truly believe it made me and my daughters closer. We all loved the show, and love to listen to the music all the time now. The music is amazing, there is a reason it won all the awards, the Tonys as well as the Grammy. The lyrics and melodies are inventive and original. These young actors and actresses are talented beyond their years. These kids are going places, and I am glad to ... read more say I saw them as young men and women. Many of the original cast are already moving to bigger films (Hamlet 2, Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist) and they will all do great things. Their energy and spirit are infectous, you can feel it. The theater is intimate, the lighting is spectacular, and this show has so many things no other show on Broadway can offer. The subject matter is not that bad. This story needs to be told. Do yourself a favor and get to this show.

in a word, incredible. Review by: lea, Aug 28, 2008 |
| im a sixteen year old girl and i absolutely loved it...i went with my boyfriend who's into rock and roll and he definately enjoyed himself...i would not recommend if you are close minded, the show itself is very racy. go with someone who you have a very close relationship...not exactly a show for a mother-daughter evening unless you are VERY close and dont feel uncomfotable with racy subject matter. it is a fantstic show, great cast, ... read more incredible music, definately worth it. loved it. |

Flawed Musical Genius Review by: lavillastrangiato, Aug 27, 2008 |
| I've only seen this show with the new Broadway cast (Aug. 26, 2008). Overall, it was a blast - but I think there are some serious issues that will prevent it from being "great". Primarily, the most significant problem is the storyline itself. It's as if someone said - ok, let's come up with a list of every teen/adolescent taboo issue and see if we can roll them all into a two hour musical. No matter how good the actors, musicians, direction, ... read more choreography....you still wind up with a campy, paint-by-number show devoid of any serious character development or empathy. The show's strengths are clearly the vocal talent, the songwriting talent of Sater/Sheik, and the music talent. In particular, Socha, Canonico, and Hunton really connected well with the audience with their stellar singing performances. Last night, Parrish was a bit of a disappointment however as he seemed to focus more on acting (overacting in the last scenes) than exploiting his beautiful voice with these beautiful songs that can touch a theater goer's heart. After seeing some rehearsal previews, I was really anticipating an emotionally charged and beautifully rendered version of "Left Behind" but for some reason a few of his songs seemed flat and forced with an almost clinical delivery. One other slight issue was the percussion mic setup -it overpowered everything. I was in the 2nd row, center mezzanine section - but I don't think that had anything to do with it. |

BEST SHOW ON BROADWAY...NO JOKE Review by: Dan, Aug 25, 2008 |
| The best show on Broadway without a doubt! I have seen everything there is, on and off and off off. This show is everything I hoped it would be and then some... The acting, singing, and drama were all fantastic. I thank the cast for giving me a night I will never forget, I never buy the CD at the show, I did with this one and I'm still singing. |

DON'T BOTHER! Review by: DoReSammi, Aug 16, 2008 |
| I've heard people RAVE about this show, so I got tickets in the front row. And I absolutely hated this show! It was so depressing... I like shows that make me feel good! The cast was good at the singing, especially being so young, but the storyline was just awful. I didn't like the songs one bit, and it was such an inappropriate show -- I was embarrassed to be with my family! I would not recommend this show to anyone. |

I wouldn't take my mother Review by: wislaw97, Jul 24, 2008 |
| Some good voices and some very bad. Ridiculous garage band music made my head hurt. Plot hard to follow and full of holes. I couldn't understand what this had to do with life in the 1800's Germany. Scenery was about as inventive as low budget 8th grade play. Completely ridiculous and unnecessary nudity ADDED NOTHING TO THE PLOT and shame on those producers for asking those very young people to do such a thing for no reason. Please put this ... read more WAY off broadway where it belongs. |

Outstanding play for this day and age Review by: Bryon, Jul 12, 2008 |
| Fantastic!!! Great broadway play. Outstanding music. Kyle Riabko was really good (he is a musician) and the gentleman from Lost was outstanding. I recommend this play to everyone. There is some sexual content so I wouldn't bring anyone under the age of 18 really. There was 2 little girls behind us and the mother told them to close there eyes, but overall they enjoyed the show a lot. We had 2nd row seating. Amazing show!! Makes me want to see ... read more it again. Really good love story. |

One of Broadway's Best !!!!!!!! Loved it !!!!!!!!!!!! Review by: Rhona, Jul 3, 2008 |
Phenomenal show, superb acting, amazing voices.. Poignant, brilliant, dynamic performances. What makes it even more remarkable is the actors are young and are not Broadway veterans but each one is outstanding and as good as any Broadway performer I've seen. Broadway’s best – it’s no wonder it won a Tony for Best Musical. Way better than I expected. However, what made it even more meaningful to us was we had 2nd row side aisle ... read more seats so being up close we could clearly see the facial expressions. I would recomend getting as close as possible. They even have on-stage seating on each side. This may be an interesting way to view this show, although you will miss parts of it when the actors are directly facing the audience. This show is definitely for adults only. I usually take my 12-year old daughter to see many Broadway shows, but definitely not this one as there are a few graphic sexual scenes. I recently saw “Jersey Boys” and “In the Heights” and this show is up there as being the top ones to see. I also recently saw "Passing Strange" and didn't like it at all - can't compare in any way, shape or form to this show. This show deserves to remain on Broadway for years.
