The little show with a big appeal Review by: theatreguy, Jan 21, 2008 |
| Funny, touching, insightful, highly original story! Excellent acting. It uplifts the spirit while making you laugh at the same time. This should move to a regular Off-Broadway house, and have a healthy run. Everyone age 13 and above should see this show -- it has a universal appeal (though there are some mature themes that are not for young children). |

Go See This Show! Review by: Theaterfan, Dec 30, 2007 |
| We three loved it and we range in age from 47 to 60. We are sending our teenagers back! Don't miss this one! The music is great and the acting is wonderful! But stay home is you have a closed mind or can't deal with the frankness of teenage speech and important themes. Safe viewing for anyone with a free spirit over the age of 12. |

Great script and Great Performances! Review by: Bonnie, Dec 24, 2007 |
| I loved this show. It was hilarious and all of the actors were great. Sarah Steele in particular gave a really great performance. Speech and Debate was really funny and I would recommend it to anyone. |

I am in love w/S&P and the Roundabout! Review by: dramamama, Nov 30, 2007 |
What a shame this lovely little play is closing so soon.
What an upbeat and entertaining piece about issues involving the changing and confusing world our teens are a part of.
While there is a lot of talk about sexuality, I don't really think it is about sex. Its about finding out who you are and accepting it and about building friendships.
All three of the actors are amazing. (There is a fourth, that I ... read more didn't think was anything special...but not a major part of the play, IMHO) Sarah Steele was an amazing force. Gideon Glick was incredibly mulitfaceted, you can read so much on his face. It's hard not to watch him. And Jason Fuchs...very intense.
I work with HS kids...and trust me, these three made some very real and very needed characters.
IF you can still get tickets: RUN.
(Appropriate: 14 and up, sexual nature) |

Fantastic show! Review by: artfortheheart, Nov 18, 2007 |
| Roundabout is to be commended for showcasing the work of young playwrights in their new intimate Underground theater. They are off to a terrific start with Speech and Debate. All four actors are so talented and engaging, Sarah Steele just about steals the show as a triple threat in singing, acting and physical comedy. The show feels fresh and authentic as a window into the lives of today's vulnerable and lonely teens online and in school. Speech ... read more and Debate will be embraced by older teens, but is equally entertaining for adults of all ages. We went back a second time with my open-minded 80 year old parents, who enjoyed it as well. |

A Great time in the Theater...and only $20!! Review by: TONY, Oct 9, 2007 |
| What A hilarious Play! I went to see becasue I am a big fan of GIDEON GLICK{ SPRING AWAKENING}, but came away with so much more. It is insightful, touching, witty and clever. A play about important issues that is equally entertaining and engrossing. And chock full of terrific performances. Gideon shows what he can do outside of the comfort of Spring Awakening-showing his acting chops and a flair for comedy. But the real find here is Sarah Steele,... read more, who gives the funniest performance I have sen in a long time on any stage....She is a delight. Hey, Tickets are only $20-A bargain when you think about this entertaining play and the performances. GO, GO, GO!!! |
