Up to you Review by: Paul, Dec 5, 2011 |
| Critical opinions were mostly super positive and message boards like this flooded with 4-5 star praise. Although actual word of mouth was quite the opposite and I could never actually discern what the actual story was. But I like Joanna Gleason, so I saw this a few weeks ago. It's a very well acted and, after a fashion, well written bore with sophmoric facitiousness substituting for wit. But to some boredom equals art, and if you're of ... read more that opinion this is the show for you. |

What can I say but --- terrible... Review by: mle642, Dec 4, 2011 |
| Terrible! Really don't like to give negative reviews but this play was so all over the place in terms of plot that we couldn't even figure out the point. No intermission and two hours of jokes that fell flat. Acting was solid but script was a disaster. We were reeling by the time we left. Honestly, no idea why this play garnered any positive reviews or why Roundabout thought it was worthy of its stage (and btw, we are subscribers). ... read more Please don't bother. |

Packs an Emotional Punch...Santino Fontana is Heartbreaking Review by: Bill from Long Beach, Nov 9, 2011 |
| After the play ended, I was in tears the whole way up the escalator and stairs and walking out of the theatre. The last scene is so poignant- Santino Fontana's portrayal of this young man broke my heart. The two women who were "the ensemble" were amazing...they really stood out too. Did not realize how brilliant it was until it ended...will remember this play for a long time. |

A Must See Review by: BrendaT, Nov 3, 2011 |
Sons of the Prophet, a new play by Stephen Karam, has recently opened at the Roundabout at Laura Pels. The play is a beautifully rendered portrait of broken people. The (euphemistic) curtain rises with the frightening realistic sounds (M.L. Dogg) of a car crash. The remaining two hour narrative then centers around the accident, which eventually claims the life of the Douaihy patriarch. It is a relatively simple story which is told with and ... read more honesty and artistry rarely seen.

The best play in a long time Review by: Legs, Nov 2, 2011 |
| Warm, meaningful, relevant -- this is a wonderful play that captures you from the onset and keeps you engaged throughout. You care about the characters, and you may even know them from your own life experiences. The play, the performances, the staging are all top-notch. Everything rings true. Joanna Gleason never disappoints and Santino Fontana and Chris Perfetti are perfect. Don't miss this one; it's too good. |

A Pleasant Surprise Review by: Ed H, Oct 26, 2011 |
| Absolutely loved this play! Found it be be funny, humorous and at times touching. The entire cast was outstanding.Santino Fontana commands the stage and gives a beautifully warm, genuine, honest performance as a man dealing with alot of personal and health related issues. It is definitely the performance of his career so far. Especially loved the ending, which was both touching and brillant at the same time. Will definitely recommend this play. |
