Take Me To Heaven! Review by: SisterAct, Aug 4, 2012 |
| This show was FUN. Great songs, sets, coustume illusions. The nuns all had amazing singing voices. Raven-Symone was "FABULOUS, BABY!" She was great. Go see it before it closes! |

Raven is GOD. Review by: Ev, Jul 18, 2012 |
| Raven-Symone is brillantly cast as Deloris and I believe the character fits her great. The entire cast of nuns are really hillarious and entertaining especially Sister Mary Patrick played by Sarah Bolt who I found was the highlight of the show. Marla Mindelle who plays Sister Mary Robert has an amazing belting voice and also was a major highlight. The show is fun, entertaining, and one of the shows where you just want to get up and dance! One of ... read more the best shows out there? Probably not, but worth going to have fun and don't miss out before it closes August 26th! So sad! |

I had Fun Review by: JDS, Jun 27, 2012 |
| Raven Symone was awesome. I'm sad to see this show go, I couple of songs are corny, but overall it's a great play, with good music, and it's really fun. |

Great fun! Review by: Legs, Apr 28, 2012 |
| Go, go, go -- this show is so entertaining. It's funny, upbeat, clever. Music and lyrics are wonderful, performances are excellent and the costumes are a riot. There is even a lesson about being human. Raven Simone is adorable as well as a powerhouse singer. The men in the show are terrific, as are all of the nuns. For anyone concerned about it being "anti-Catholic", for what it's worth, this Catholic found nothing at all offensive. |

Left me thinking afterwards Review by: MH75, Mar 9, 2012 |
Beautifully performed by the entire cast, though I did not find the music as good as that in the movie, and found the dancing gangsters a bit far fetched, the the Giant Glitter Mary a bit strange, but overall it was an enjoyable show As a Catholic, I was challenged by some of the content of this shows. Having read some of the reviews where it has been suggested that this show makes fun of the Catholic Church, and that no Catholic ... read more should go and see it, I would question why such an uptight Catholic would set foot into the theatre into the theatre in the first place. Sister Mary Clarence / Deloris was put on the spot to say the blessing before the meal. Deloris, who obviously had not recited the Lord's Prayer in many a year, recited what she thought were the words ... this was not making fun of the Lord's Prayer but showed how vunerable and lost Deloris was. Mother Superior's conflict showed beautifully the conflict in the Church in the 1960's ... do you make some adapations and keep people interested or wittle away and die. The fact that the Pope is referenced as being Paul VI, shows the setting as being the time of or slightly after Vatican II. In calling Vatican II, Pope John XXIII called to let some light in. Mother Superior has that same struggle ... continue the same way and see her community dispersed to different parishes and the church closed or to make a few changes and get people coming back. To all the Catholic's out there, go with an open mind. |

A fun, but far from heavenly night out. Review by: BlondonBroadway, Mar 9, 2012 |
| A joy - while the sisters are on stage, at least. The rest of the book is a dull mess, with much of the original film's wit and sass replaced by 'safer' dialogue. And then there's that hoary henchmen number about how to seduce a nun. Ugh. Seriously? Still, the stars live up to the hype and it's certainly a great looking show. |

Hilarious, but a bit offensive Review by: Fedora, Mar 2, 2012 |
This show was quite good, although there was not too much plot. Overall, I loved it, and it is the perfect fun show, provided you are not easily offended by catholic jokes |

This is the ONE! Review by: Rodeonav, Jan 27, 2012 |
| Run, don't walk to see this musical - you won't be disappointed! We sat 6 rows back in left orchestra and the view was excellent. Unlike some recent shows, each scene held our attention with very good dialogue and excellent musical numbers. The intensity of the production grows as the story unfolds. Many of the characters surprise with their singing talents. Patina Miller as Delores is a star. Carolee Carmello as Mother Superior was 2nd ... read more to none. Chester Gregory as Eddie Souther will delight. The hit squad trio of John Treacy Egan, Caesar Samayoa, and Desmond Green playing Joey, Pablo, and TJ will no doubt captivate you. The NUNS collectively entertain like no others - Ms. Mindelle (what a voice), Ms Bolt (what a voice), Ms Neenan (sings and acts superbly) playing Sisters Robert, Patrick, and Lazarus were standouts. Least we forget the villain Curtis (played by Kingsley Leggs), he too sang superbly though his "shooting" was not all that great! If we forgot anyone - they must have blended into the production to make it even better. We were thoroughly entertained for 2 1/2 hours to forget the ills of the world for a short time. A big HOO RHA for this production! |

As a first time Broadway visitor and long time NJ resident. A+ Review by: Manny, Jan 23, 2012 |
| This was my first time at a Braodway show. Although I read comments about religion and stabbing your faith. These are those people who are not satisfied with their lives. The show was great and funny. The production was super and spot on. The actors perfect for each part and delviered as promised. Music is line with the dialog and feel of the play. I would reommend this to anyone. |

Anti Catholic Rhetoric Review by: Latria, Jan 16, 2012 |
Unfortunately this show is nothing like the movie, which was very cute. I cannot believe that there has not been a public outcry about this show. The Catholic Church steeped in 2000 years of Tradition, is jabbed at and mocked in the name of entertainment. Any good Catholic would/should take offense at this. Just a few examples. I will start with the numerous times the Lord's Name is taken in vain. If the lead role shouted "J C!" one ... read more time, she shouted it 10 times and in many different contexts. A sacred Catholic Christian prayer, "The Lords Prayer" (you may know it as the "Our Father") was joked about/poked fun at and re-worded, when the nuns said "grace" before a meal. Not only should this outrage every practicing Catholic, I can't imagine ANY Christian denomination standing for such derisive humor relating to a prayer which was taught by Christ Himself! During one scene a HUGE blown up figure of the blessed mother (which could've been in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade) floated above the stage, staring down upon the nuns on the altar as they sang, insinuating that Catholics worship Mary. Nuns are heavily stereotyped and shown in a very unfavorable light, to put it nicely. One of the lines is a slap in the face to the HOLY EUCHARIST, when an overweight nun belts out that one of the great things about being a nun is "getting to eat thousands of WAFERS." My husband and I were sickened. I kept hoping it would get better but it didn't. The singing was good but it didn't make up for the fact that Sacred tenants of our Faith were being ridiculed. There is also some mild violence which isn't suitable for children (a gangland style execution) and a few sexual innuendos. I won't go into any more details, I think I've illustrated my point. My husband and I left at intermission, so I don't know if it got any better. Somehow, I tend to doubt it. |

Review by: Mary Jo, Dec 8, 2011 |
| Went with a group of friends to see Sister Act last Saturday. Show was professional and great talent. One BIG disappointment was the lack of respect for the Blessed Mary !! Obviously, the production staff have NO respect and are insensitive to the beliefs of the Catholic Church or they would not have dressed a staue of the Blessed Mary in lights and referred to her as Disco Mary. It put a damper on the performance. This area of the stage could ... read more have had stained glass and everything would have been fine. I will not recommend this production. |

| This is a decent show with some good numbers. The movie is better but you do get some solid live theater here. The key performances are from Patina Miller and Carolee Carmello. |

Best Show I've seen in a Long Time Review by: Dave, Nov 27, 2011 |
| Amazing show. The songs, actors, dance numbers, and sets just blew me away. It's a must see if you are in New York. I would say it's the best show I've seen since Hairspray (that was like 5 years ago). Definitely a wake up call to Broadway. |

Jaw-Dropping, Hand Clapping, Uplifting experience! Review by: Chris, Nov 16, 2011 |
| This show is absolutely amazing! I'm seeing it for the second time next week and I can't wait! The numbers are catchy, the set is beyond amazing (I especially love the color-changing stained glass windows), and the actors and actresses are amazing. Patina Miller is a newborn star, Victoria Clark (who is sadly leaving on the 19th) is always fabulous, Marla Mindelle is also a newborn star (I love her breakthrough song, it is so powerful!), Sarah ... read more Bolt is hilarious as is Audrie Neenan, and the nuns raised the roof off of the theater. I can go on about the actors but there is just too much to say about them. I don't have anything negative to say about the show. I guarantee you will come out of the theater with a giant grin on your face! This show is a must see and it is definitely worth the money! Go see it! |
