Good Show! Review by: joanf, Oct 29, 2011 |
| I had a great time. It's a good story, well told. And the performances are terrific from all. I was engrossed for the 90 minute running time. |

Forgettable Review by: Boo Radley, Oct 29, 2011 |
| Saw a preview performance and had high hopes to see such a great assortment of talented actors. Unfortunately the show needs lots of editing and is just plain forgettable. |

Spend Your Money on a Musical Review by: Carol, Oct 28, 2011 |
Once again Broadway has no paucity of talented actors but a dearth of material. Seminar by Theresa Rebeck focuses on four students under their guiding light, Leonard (Alan Rickman). He is the critic, writing teacher, and mentor. In a play about writers and writing an audience member might expect some expressive language. Instead, there is a constant barrage of profanity. Sex figures prominently among the players, and the only ... read more notion the viewer gets of the quality of the writing is from one of the four student authors with, "This is incredible!" This is not exactly an earth-shaking remark. The play is advertised as a 90-minute production. It was closer to two hours without an intermission. The last scene, albeit with a spectacular set, could have easily been cut. The play is aimless as are the actors who lust after one another and romp all over the stage. What surprised me and my husband in this production were the "paid laughers" akin to a laugh track on terrible television sitcoms. There were perhaps one or two humorous moments in the production, and largely it was "full of sound and fury signifying nothing." |
