Scandalous!! Review by: ScandalousReview, Dec 8, 2012 |
| I... don't understand why this show is closing tomorrow. I don't get it. I thought it was wonderful. I loved everything about it - such an original story (who would've thought to make a musical about Aimee Semple McPherson!?), a perfect cast, an excellent book and score, and it was visually stunning - beautiful costumes, lights, and sets. And great choreography. The show was very interactive, the cast comes down into the audience and speaks to ... read more the audience for awhile. Ms. Carmello is simply brilliant. She straightened out her vibrato and speaking voice in the beginning of the show to make herself sound young, her voice is... insanity. She is a wonderful singer. Her acting is genius, she plays both parts of Aimee's life so perfectly, there was a major change in Aimee between Act I and Act II. Ms. Carmello has so much stamina, I don't think she had more than 10 minutes off the stage. The rest of the cast was great, especially George Hearn... :) |

GO SEE IT! Review by: Margo, Dec 2, 2012 |
| I love the show. I paid full price and traveled 6 hours to see this show. I was ready to be entertained, I was not ready to be so deeply moved! The singing is beautiful, and Carmello grabs you by the heart and does not let you go until the last note. The other actors are superb, funny, perfect timing and delivery. If you have ever complained about the lack of quality or worthwhile entertainment, YOU MUST GO SEE THIS SHOW. My favorite songs ... read more were A Girls Gotta Do, Stand Up, and I Have a Fire. The emotion in How Could You was incredible. I also appreciated the fact that Gifford so generously waited for pics and autographs after the show. CLASSY LADY! For a rather expensive NY afternoon, this show made it a win-win! |

I would see it again Review by: showoff, Nov 24, 2012 |
| though this show faired better when it was in Seattle (under the title Saving Aimee), i still throughly enjoyed this show. Mrs. Carmello is a treat to watch preform. Her voice and Acting are the best on broadway right now and i think broadway will be hard pressed to find someone better than her this season. The entire cast is ridiculously talented and watching George Hearn take the stage again is worth the price of admission alone. Go see it! |

A One Act Show Review by: Ken, Nov 12, 2012 |
| May I join those who are disappointed in this musical? I agree that Ms. Carmello has great pipes, but her tone is so somber that it puts one in a sleepy mode. Act One is very much like being at a church songfest. Nothing scandalous in the first act- or very interesting. As for Act Two, I wouldn't know. |

Wikipedia to Music Review by: sarg2, Nov 11, 2012 |
| This must be the worst broadway show I have ever seen. It felt like a Wikipedia page squeezed onto a stage with lyrics unselfconsciously ridiculous. You have the KKK, Jews dancing the hora and throwing frogs and other plagues, a octogenarian father of 16 year old from 1903. But mostly, you have a play that can't decide it it loves or hates its main character, the fantastically interesting Amy Sempel McPherson. You can get the history more cheaply ... read more and better from Wikipedia. |

"The Room" of musicals Review by: Bee, Nov 11, 2012 |
| This was the funniest musical I have ever seen. Just really laughably bad. It was as if Kathie Lee saw Book of Mormon's success, missed the irony of it and decided that Musicals about religion were in. I loved every moment of it. Especially the part when the KKK enter, drop off a bag of gold bricks and are never mentioned again. |

OM GEE Review by: Purrminator, Oct 18, 2012 |
Not even into the first song and could tell it was a dud. We left at intermission as a few others did too. Ms. Carmello has great pipes but the score was a snooze, the acting was over-the-top earnest and characters were too broad. Overbearing God-fearing mother, hooker with a heart-o-gold, etc... |

Enjoyable but needs work Review by: SusieQ49, Oct 17, 2012 |
I would like to see this show succeed because I appreciate it's originality which is often missing on BW these days HOWEVER, it is WAY too long. It needs to be seriously edited and tightened up in order to be great. The lead is a tremendous talent. It's early in the preview process - there is still time to save it, but they must get busy fast.
