ROA ROCKS! Review by: , Apr 9, 2013 |
| I saw Rock of Ages several times and would see it several more. It's silly, cheesy, loud, predictable and makes fun of itself but that's what makes it so entertaining. The characters are so likeable. The 80's rock music makes you want to dance in the aisles. The fun factor is off the charts!! |

Rockin' good time! Review by: , Apr 6, 2013 |
| Saw Rock of Ages for the second time and loved it even more. It is not a show for young children or even young teenagers. The plot is basic but the music, dancing, characters, even the set is so much fun. You can't help but smile the whole time and leave singing. If you like have a good time and rock out to 80's rock music, this show is for you! |

Not like what I thought or previewed Review by: , Feb 17, 2013 |
| Well I have seen them perform previews and I thought this would be a great show I watched it in Hershey, pa. I thought it was ok, it is not in my top 3. Too many stories, none of the songs that would gel why we are singing that song. The paridy of the songs some are good others stink. Usually love story. So if you like 80's music go see it. If you are tired of same love story and like the ones who did this music Don't go! But it is really up ... read more to you for sure for this one. |

Tried to do what Mama Mia did - fell flat Review by: wlb50, Jan 28, 2013 |
I can see reviews are mixed - we walked out at the intermission. Loud rock (fine) - no plot to speak of - bad. At least Mama Mia had a plot - |

As the old song lyrics say, Accentuate the Positive, eliminate the negative. Review by: Rich, Sep 30, 2012 |
I take issue with those who say this musical isn't for kids or those over 65. First of all, I am a kid -- over 65, and my wife and I really enjoyed the performance at the Long's Theater in Austin, TX. We were warned that the sounds were pretty loud but where we sat, about 3 rows up on the second balcony, it sounded great. I particularly like the energy in this musical. There were few dead zones in the somewhat conventional story, i.e.,... read more, boy meets girl, both trying to find their separate ways, end up finding each other, and all's well that ends well. Language a problem? Don't go if a few sprinklings of foul words creep in but hey, who's a purist anyway? I spent enough time in the military to act indignant over a few words that so many of us have used in our lifetimes. |

Leave Granny and the Kiddies at home and be ready to rock!!! Review by: Product of the 80s, Sep 1, 2012 |
Let me start by saying that parents bringing the kiddies and those over 65 need to avoid this show at all costs. This show is about the 80s and everything "bad" associated with the era. There is drinking, smoking, "bad" language and sexual innuendos. (If you don't know what the word means than get off your butt and look it up!!) NOTE: Most audience members are in their late 30s, 40s and 50s. This is NOT a show for teenagers or younger ... read more children or for uptight adults without a sense of humor! Now for those of us who are a product of the 1980s be ready to be transported back to "our" time. Yes, the story line is lame to say the least, but, it provides a lot of trips down memory lane and a few good hard laughs along the way. However, without a question this show is about the music, and, you aren't a fan of 80s music then you will hate this show. Check the set list out BEFORE buying your tickets "We Built This City" by Starship "Nothing But a Good Time" by Poison "Keep On Lovin' You" by REO Speedwagon "I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister "Too Much Time on My Hands" by Styx "Renegade" by Styx "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry "Waiting For a Girl Like You" by Foreigner "Shadows of the Night" by Pat Benatar "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey "Heaven" by Warrant "The Search is Over" by Survivor "High Enough" by Damn Yankees "The Final Countdown" by Europe "I Want To Know What Love Is" by Foreigner "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake "To Be With You" by Mr. Big "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" by Poison "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi "Cum On Feel the Noize" by Quiet Riot "Any Way You Want It" by Journey "Heat of the Moment" by Asia "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger "More Than Words" by Extreme Now after all is said and done. GO SEE THIS SHOW! It's totally awesome :)

Cheesy....and bad!!!! Review by: MarioP, Jun 27, 2012 |
Wow.....My wife and I (Both having grown up in the 80s) thought this would be fun to see. What moe can I say about it than Cheese at its best. It was Cheesy.....badly choreographed.... The band was good...and the 2 main characters sang well....everything else was bad....bad plot....bad acting. My wife wanted to walk out at interrmission and I insisted that we paid to see it...and that we would say we say it. I had to join here.....to give ... read more my 2 cents. Don't waste your money....rent the movie...or go see a real Broadway play. I wish someone would have warned me.....we wasted a good trip to NY to see this.... |

Review by: BonJovi Girl, Jun 12, 2012 |
| I've seen this show on Broadway and in Toronto, and each time our minds were blown! It was great to bring my daughters along and have them experience the music and fashion of the era in which my husband and I grew up. Sure, there is some vulgarity, but it certainly is not to the extent that kids see on TV programs such as Gossip Girl, Jersey Shore, etc. or in music videos. We are a family that enjoys musicals and this one is probably our ... read more favourite. When we head back to New York this summer we definitely plan to see it again. The music consists of "hair metal" bands, so if you are a fan of the synthesized music of the '80s, this show is probably not for you. |

Some like it loud, vulgar and beer-loaded Review by: Musical lover, Feb 19, 2012 |
| I would qualify it of white-trash musical. Except for the main two characters, the singing is about as bad as that of the audience, most of which feels it's OK to sing along. The audience is drinking beer left and right, I felt I was at a WWF brawl. Humor is vulgar, but some made me laugh. I liked the "musical making fun of musical", that aspect reminded me a bit of "Urinetown". I stayed until the end but I left during bows, which allowed me ... read more to catch the 10:48 express train instead of the 11:05 local train. Catching that express train may have been the best part of the evening. |

Don't waste your time or money Review by: lynnerB, Jan 3, 2012 |
| Horrible! This show was such a a disappointment. I knew within the first 10 minutes that I had made a mistake. The story line is weak. The script vulgar. The songs second rate and the acting fair. Do not waste you time or money on this one. There are too many other great plays. The 80's in this show was not my 80's in story or in music. |

Review by: GlitterGal, Jan 1, 2012 |
This show is tailored made for people that love 80s hair bands. Sex, drugs and rock and roll rule in Rock of Ages. It is a little gratuitous, strippers abound and there is bad language. This is NOT a show for kids so please parents, don't be stupid and take your children to this show. This is a show just for adults, especially fans of hair band rock music. I thought this show was hilarious! You could tell that the cast was really ... read more into what they were doing and having a great time. Not to mention their talent which was awesome.
