Don't waste your time or money Review by: lynnerB, Jan 3, 2012 |
| Horrible! This show was such a a disappointment. I knew within the first 10 minutes that I had made a mistake. The story line is weak. The script vulgar. The songs second rate and the acting fair. Do not waste you time or money on this one. There are too many other great plays. The 80's in this show was not my 80's in story or in music. |

Review by: GlitterGal, Jan 1, 2012 |
This show is tailored made for people that love 80s hair bands. Sex, drugs and rock and roll rule in Rock of Ages. It is a little gratuitous, strippers abound and there is bad language. This is NOT a show for kids so please parents, don't be stupid and take your children to this show. This is a show just for adults, especially fans of hair band rock music. I thought this show was hilarious! You could tell that the cast was really ... read more into what they were doing and having a great time. Not to mention their talent which was awesome. This is the perfect show to see if you're out with friends just having a good time. |

It's the 80s but at its Worst Review by: Chubby Theater Goer, Oct 27, 2011 |
| I like the 80s, but the songs here are not the ones I like...at all. Possibly because they are trying to save money from having to pay royalties for the more popular songs. I also hate the Emcee and found him to be very irritating. The young couple is actually quite cute, the guy very charming and girl very cute but there is almost no story here. They were basically trying for an 80s Moulin Rouge on stage and failed miserably. I hated the ... read more other stories and the other characters and did not feel for them at all. Again, weak script or non-existent, take your pick. |

Amazing show-definitely go and see. Review by: bee, Oct 11, 2011 |
| Went with a friend two weeks ago and absolutely loved it so took my husband to see it a few days afterwards. He's not a broadway fan at all but he loved this show. The music was great-had you wanting to get up and dance the whole way through. The storyline was funny and the cast were brilliant. Mitch Jarvis was amazing as Lonny-really funny and upbeat. Loved Adam Dannheisser as Dennis and Joey Calveri as Stacey Jaxx was amazing. All of the ... read more cast were super. Everyone really got into it and they deserved the standing ovation at the end. Would love to live closer to NY to see it again. Agree with others though in that I wouldn't bring young kids to see this. |

Rock of Ages Rocked!!! Review by: loudog, Sep 12, 2011 |
| Rock of Ages was amazing. The plot was thin, but who cares. It's a love story that all Broadway shows have. This play had great music (if you at least like 80's hair band songs), hot chicks, and was funny as hell. I'm not a big Broadway show guy. My favorite plays were Avenue Q and Phantom of the Opera (i loved the set designs). This play blew them both away, easily. I was amused from the moment it started and was disappointed when it ended. ... read more It's most certainly not suitable for children, but if you are not easily offended and want to be amused for three hours, go see this play. |

| AMAZING!! This show was phenominal. My 16 year son and I went together and we both thought it was the best thing we did on a weekend of being tourist in NYC. Very good time, great music. Characters were funny. My son wants to see it again and again. |

AWESOME...can't wait to go again Review by: , Jul 6, 2011 |
| This was one of the best shows I've ever seen! It was nice to see a broadway show and not have to be so formal. They encourage drinking, fowl language and audience participation. If you are a fan of the 80's you will love this play! DO NOT bring children. |

| Saw the show last night and will say that it cannot compare to the original cast - which I saw more than once. As for those who were appalled oh well... read the reviews about a show before you buy the tickets. This one clearly states what it's about and suggests that no one under 14 see it! |

Appalled and Extremely Disappointed. Review by: Amy, Jun 26, 2011 |
I was shocked and appalled at what I witnessed. Not only was this show extremely vulgar, but the talent, music, and storyline deserves no place on broadway. The shot girl, (yes that's right, shot girl) razzing the audience before the show was actually bullying me because I wasn't boozing it up. I'm sorry, I thought we were on broadway! The first act was the most uncomfortable 1hr & 1/2 of my life. I had decided by the end of the first song ... read more that I was leaving at intermission. I spent good money on those tickets and could have seen Wicked or another critically acclaimed show for the same price. I was actually depressed after leaving! My day in the city was ruined. |

Heard it was Great but have to say it was just ok Review by: Critical Thinker, Jun 18, 2011 |
| I waited a long time to see this play. Everyone said it was just fabulous. On line to get in someone had seen it over 13 times! I was psyched. If you don't know the music which was alot of Poisen and other groups I just was not familiar with it was not that enjoyable. I thought reliving the era, times and music was all the fun. I recognized few songs and those were fun. My music taste was not Poisen. I enjoyed Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne,... read more, Motown- it was not my type of music plain and simple. If I had no expectations the show would have been okay! I read these reviews so in essence check out the music and see if it was what you listened to. Some people loved it. My husband and I were not two of them! |

Decent for the right audience Review by: Mrjaws, Apr 24, 2011 |
Not stupendous, but decent for the right crowd. If you don't know the 80's hair bands or can't appreciate the irony of a heavy metal rock ballad, it's not for you. If you've spent your life waiting for Sister Christian to be wedged into a play, go by all means. The acting and dancing is decent. The plot is a waste. At times it's funny, although it's far too slapstick (the part with the father & son demolition team is just too ... read more over the top). The play is at its best when it rocks, which it does occasionally, and the requisite heavy metal chics break out into dancing. So order a beer, whip out your fake lighter and enjoy. |

great, but not for kids Review by: KK, Apr 17, 2011 |
| The show was fantastic! Great music! However, I took my 12 year old son who loves 80's music and knew all the songs. It was not age appropriate! I made him cover his eyes multiple times. It should be rated R. I would not have taken him if I knew. Aside from that, it really was enjoyable! |
