People will say that there is no story, but there is a story. If you listen to the songs and watch what is going on on stage, the story is easy to see. If you are expecting to see a traditional Broadway show, don't go to this. If you wish to be entertained and listen to excellent performers, you will have a best. It's almost like an interpretive concert. I suggest that people read up a little on Johnny Cash and his life before going and ... read more they will understand the underlying story of this show.

I am a huge John Cash fan and I found this show very disappointing. The cast was talented an the music was well performed but they just could never capture John's coolness. The grit in the gut and the spit in the eye was just not there. That's what Johnny Cash was all about.

I have been disappointed before but my goodness ths show was bad! I barely made it to intermission when I discussed my feelings with those around me and, not surprising, we all agreed this show was pure torture to sit through. There was no plot; No particular flow to the "live music videos" that the cast performed. This show does no credit to the songs of Cash. It seems to have no value nor purpose at all except to annoy. |

No real story plot, rather themes i.e. Opry, prison, country, bar etc. Enjoyed the show and thought the cast was VERY talented with super voices.

There is simply no plot to this show. It is like watching a bunch of music videos, but the music just isn't that good. We like Johnny Cash, and these songs were just missing something. If you have free tickets and a of couple hours to kill, go for it. If not, skip it.

I saw this production with five other people. We all thoroughly enjoyed the production. The show has a very talented cast and the production is very lively. This was one of my favorite productions this past year, on Broadway.

No story line, very little dialogue. The cast is talented but there was just not enough substance to keep my attention and I am a J. Cash fan. This production is more like something one would expect from Branson, Mo or Pigeon Forge, TN. We left at intermission.

a show about NOTHING - no sets but a wonderful projection backdrop - songs are a bore - and the way they are presented lacks imagination and substance -worse than Good Vibrations & Lennon

I went with parents for a fundraiser for Beacon High School. The director's son goes there and invited us. It was one of the final dress rehearsals before it opens for previews. It is all about the music and the passion of Johnny Cash's lyrics. Its not a big stage production but if you like his music and want a nonstop night of listening, clapping and singing along its a must see. Thats why I picked tourists, and seniors as the target group ... read more because more often than not they may be able to relate better to the music than local NYC people. I loved it because the songs were so well sung and there was a life that the actors were able to bring to them. For people that grew up with his music the songs will bring back memories of what a person was doing when the song was popular; thats why I left afterwards thinking about it for awhile.
