| Must see for all Beatles fans! These guys are top notch and excelent musicians! The main line up are from the Beatlemania production of the late 70's-early 80's. There are two more line ups for Rain on broadway, and a B&T (national touring) line up. In the broadway line ups, there are 12 "Beatles", 3 other musicians, 7 of the 12 "Beatles" are from Beatlemania, 1 from the original Beatlemania line up, 3 from Beatlemania The Movie. To cut to the chase, "Rain" is not the Beatles -- it's four guys dressed up in Beatles costumes, doing impressions of the Beatles. Individually their performances aren't half bad, and collectively they produce a sound vaguely reminiscent of the real thing, but with none of the original Beatles' magic. That isn't surprising, I suppose -- it's totally unfair to expect four journeyman musicians to meld with a chemistry in any way comparable ... read more to four pioneering, mercurial, absolutely unique geniuses.
"Rain" is essentially an offshoot of "Beatlemania", and caters to the same sort of nostalgia. If you're a young pup with nothing to compare it to, this will probably be reasonably entertaining and might be worth the price of admission. If you're an old fart like me who was a young pup when the original act burst on the scene out of nowhere, the yawning chasm between the genuine article and this empty shell of an imitation will leave you very sad. At least it did me.
Again, no offense meant to the four guys in the show -- it's not their fault -- they have talent, and their performances are quite competent. But they are not the Beatles. You have to remember that nothing prior to the Beatles sounded anything like them, and everything since owes at least something to them. So any direct imitation is going to come up short. Way short. |

| I have seen this phenomenal band a few times. They are INCREDIBLE! What impressed my husband and me most is not only their incredible singing voices but their musicianship! Unmatched! These guys are totally into the music of The Beatles. and they play totally live! now that is something to see. we are so bored with stars who feel they need to lip sync. RAIN is the real deal!
