Great Review by: Haines21, Dec 23, 2011 |
| Loved the show. Went with my wife and three year old, and we all enjoyed. I was really happy to see the nativity scene since it is a Christmas show and glad they showed what Christmas is all about. |

Missed first 25 min. because of people looking for their seats. Review by: lensdec, Dec 21, 2011 |
June 2011 my wife informed me she was pre booking seats for us and our two kids to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in December we, had seen the show when our kids were much younger and were excited to see it again, this time we would attend with friends who also had two kids. When December 1st arrived I took a half day from work and the kids were pulled from school (half day field trip anyway) We arrive at the theater, pick up our ... read more tickets at will call, get our $10 Rocktinies and $8 popcorn were shown to our seats by the usher on the 1st Mezzanine enter aisle C Row K seat 208 we settle in nice and early to enjoy the show, or so I thought... Curtain up at 1pm, on time. A group of 7/8 people were standing in asile C trying to find their seats, no usher assisted them. The group got a little louder than they should have been and were clearly confused. The whole group then figured out where their seats were and walked across the aisle asking each person to stand as they did so. The 3D part of the show had by now started. The group then realized they were in the wrong row, had everyone stand u again go to the row in front of them and cross through all of it back to aisle c. by now other viewers were beginning to say “sit down” The lady beside me was quietly incredulous. I was annoyed my kids had missed the opening part but figured everyone would settle down. That is until 3 ushers stood in a group talking in loud voices with a man dressed in a grey suit, they stood at asile B. They spoke so loud that I could clearly hear them from my seat in the middle. The whole row in front of me was empty so i didn’t understand why such a fuss was been made. The group of 4 then went to a patron at the end of a row and had a long conversation (they wanted them to change seats and, the patron declined.) Now 15 minutes into the show we still could not see a full view of the stage, I now gestured silently to the group with raised arms, the suited man shouted back to me that he is trying to seat a guest and walked up the stairs. A female usher walked into the empty row of seats in front of us and stated that an elderly person was trying to be seated, I suggested they sit the person in the empty row as we are missing the show because of the disruption. She was not sympathetic to our plight, the lady beside me asked to speak with a manager, The usher said the man in the grey suit was a supervisor and she would get him. He never returned and people continued to settle for 25 minutes of the show. The behavior of the ushers and particularly the supervisor was so unprofessional and inappropriate for a venue of the caliber of Radio City Music Hall. The whole experience was very dispiriting. I thought we had the makings of a nice family tradition but the whole event was ruined maybe next year our group will all go to the nutcracker. |

Thoroughly Enjoyable Review by: Sam2, Dec 6, 2010 |
I'm Jewish, and I go to the Christmas show almost yearly. It would never in a million years occur to me to even think that this show is intolerant. It's a Christmas show, for goodness sake. That should be the first clue. Everyone's sensitivity about political correctness has really gotten to the point of ridiculousness. If you don't want to see a Christmas show, don't go to a show called The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. This is a ... read more great way to start the holiday season. |

Religious Intolerance - caution!! Review by: , Nov 29, 2010 |
| The first part of the show was fine, but I think one should be warned about the blatant Christian proselytizing in the nativity scene. It is promoted as a show for the family, but they should also announce - no Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, etc., will be comfortable during the Christian pitch at the end. I felt that it was way over the top and totally inappropriate. I was embarrassed for my seven year old grandson to see this one-sided, ... read more intolerant presentation. |

Review by: proftva, Sep 10, 2010 |
| It's a wonderful show overall, and, yes, it's a Christmas show, so those who dislike the incorporation of the Nativity scene shouldn't go. The Nativity, in my view, is the highlight of the show (although I preferred the narrative they had about 8 years ago to the more recent one). We've been many times of the years, and it's never a disappointment. |

More Spectacular Than Ever Review by: NYC Fanatic, Dec 4, 2009 |
| I'm always amused by the handful of people who are offended by the Nativity Scene. This is the radio city CHRISTMAS spectacular. Those who are offended by Christmas should not be attending a show with that moniker. Were I to attend a show called The Hanukkah Spectacular, The Buddhist Spectacular, etc., I would expect to be observing traditions associated with those words. People need to lighten up. This is a remarkable ... read more show and the revamping of it for the 75th anniversary edition 2 years ago have made it more exciting and spectacular than ever. There will always be those who don't like change and find changes less appealing than what they are used to. These changes have brought the show into a new age of even better, brighter traditions for new generations to enjoy. |

Radio City, Bring back the old details!!!! Review by: Ouija mom, Nov 23, 2009 |
We miss the old Xmas show that RC discontinued about 3 years ago especially Santa's workshop with the elves and Mr. Spruce and the great scene with the Rockettes in the shop windows and the more elaborate Central Park Ice Skating scene. That show really was great entertainment and you felt that you had more than your moneys worth. This new/edited show is ok but to my family, a major disappointment comparatively. We went to see it last week after ... read more a hiatus. I'm glad I got highly discounted seats. We also missed the weathermen scene that predicted snow...please bring all the great old details back that made the Xmas show an annual event. This will probably be the last time we go to the Xmas show for a long time. It's great for tourists or if you've never seen it before but don't bring kids too young. The couple in front of us brought their 3 year old who had no interest in the show and didn't stop talking, crying and sitting on his fathers shoulder that blocked our view. |

Just Okay Review by: , Nov 16, 2009 |
| I've been waiting a lifetime to see this show, so although I loved some of it, there were other parts that were tedious and disappointing. I liked the 3D effects and the virtual screen behind the rockettes on the tour bus. I was shocked that there was a nativity scene. This is supposed to be a secular show in my opinion, and I was a bit put off considering that NYC is the melting pot of the world and home to most of the country's Jewish ... read more population. If you have lots of money to spare, then take a chance; otherwise save your money for more spectacular shows like The Jersey Boys! |

Great costumes, dancing and music Review by: Dar, Nov 16, 2009 |
We really enjoyed the show. The costumes, music and dancing were great. Show is good for all ages. The "One Solitary Life" Scene was fantastic, colorful, beautiful. The only downer was that the show ended very abruptly, there should have been a finale after the "One Solitary Life" scene. Thanks! |

TERRIBLE! Review by: KareBear, Oct 23, 2009 |
| TERRIBLE! AND Expensive! We took the entire family of 9 and what a disappointment! It used to be charming and beautiful and INSPIRING...I would leave the theater 10 feet off the ground...BUT now it's just scene after scene, costume change after costume change...singing and dancing without the continuity, the whole Santa Claus thing with Mrs. Claus and of course NO LIVE NATIVITY SCENE! A DISGRACE of an excuse for the formershow! AWFUL!!! |

Sad times Review by: Gerry, Sep 5, 2009 |
| I've made this show the highlight of my Christmas season for 15 years. The last 2 years were disappointing: enough with the bus and the wonderful voice over during the finale has disappeared. If somehow political correctness has eroded the drop down screen which is the linchpin of Christmas then I am heartsick. Not attending this year. |

Holiday treat and special entertainment Review by: Harry, Dec 21, 2007 |
| An outstanding experience. Most delightful entertainment and an opportunity to enjoy pure fun and extraordinary stage production that included many special effects. Anyone who can't marvel and enjoy the dancing and special skills of the Rocketts is missing the joy of tradition, good "clean" entertainment and appreciation of dedicated professional. A great day and a holiday treat that will be long remembered. |

Nice but now much more than that Review by: ohno, Dec 3, 2007 |
My parents and I saw the Radio City Christmas Show. We got tickets for approx $50 each. Would not pay more than that to see this show. It's ok. We saw some fantastic shows in NYC while there, Radio City show was "nice" but not much more than that. I cant believe others say they see this show every year, once is more than enough for me.
If I were coming to NYC for a few days, I'd see other shows. Highly recommend "Jersey Boys" and ... read more "Chicago" (Broadway) and "Life and Music of Celia Cruz" (off Broadway). |
