A MUST SEE !!!! Review by: BigTheatreGuyfromNJ, Apr 12, 2010 |
| If you only get to see one musical this year, GO SEE Promises, Promises. I saw it on April 10th and was amazed by what a brilliant job Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth did. Sean was perfect as C.C.(Chuck) Baxter, and Kristin was a force to be reckoned with as Fran. Music-wise, Sean did a good job with the songs, and Kristin can sing like an angel. Tony Goldwyn does a great acting job as Mr. Sheldrake and carries a tune well enough to get by. ... read more Although I'm a Chenoweth fanatic, there was one performance that overshadowed even her amazing talents. Katie Finneran as Marge MacDougall was AMAZING!! She deserves a Tony for her performance. Promises, Promises is worth the ticket price just for Ms. Finneran's performance. This show should be at the top of everyone's "Must See" list! |

Review by: mary, Apr 11, 2010 |
Saw this show on April 9th. After the show, I proceeded directly to the box office to buy tickets for opening night. This is the best show I have in a on long time. Sean Hayes and Kristen Chenowith were perfect. Was so pleased to find Tony Goldwyn in it as well - great performance by him! And they were all so nice afterwards at the stage door - refusing no one an autograph. Just a joyful experience all around! |

Promises Fulfilled Review by: pam, Apr 11, 2010 |
| Delightful revival with a super score and clever production. Hayes is a natural...charming and hilarious. Only weak link is Chenoweth's Fran. Who dressed her in that cheesy lingerie? She does, however, sing the heck out of the score and the addition of two Bacharach standards works quite well. I predict a Tony nomination for Katie Finneran who steals both of her scenes. A very enjoyable evening of musical theater. |

A hint of "Just Jack 2010" - Thumbs up for Sean Hayes, Kristin Chenoweth and "Promises, Promises" Review by: Tony R from NJ, Apr 10, 2010 |
If you weren't a regular viewer of "Will and Grace" then you wouldn't understand the reference to "Just Jack 2010", but, to help explain in simple terms - Sean Hayes is simply an amazing actor! Likewise, Kristin Chenoweth shines as she belts out classic Bacharach songs “I Say a Little Prayer” and “A House Is Not a Home”. These two performers are perfect together in their respective roles of George (Sean Hayes) and Fran (Kristin ... read more Chenoweth). The show is funny, intelligent, and if you're like me, you'll have "I Say a Little Prayer" in your mind the following day - this isn't a bad thing!! Who it's NOT for - I'll be kind here (since the show is set in the 1960s) those under 25 (told you I was being kind) probably will not truly appreciate the sexual politics of the era and it's a good chance they'll be saying "Burt Who?" and it really isn't for children since the plot involves extramarital affairs. HOWEVER, if you are part of the 35 and over crowd - run, don't walk to get your show tickets! This Neil Simon classic is a homerun and I smell a Tony for "Best Revival" - yep, it's that good! Just Jack - I mean - just go!!

Run to Promises Review by: mdbennett, Apr 4, 2010 |
| GREAT!, this is one of the best shows I've seen in a very long time. Kristen, as always, is perfection. Sean Hayes is wonderdul and on point, adding just a hint of "Just Jack" making his performance brilliant and effortless. I loved everything about this production. It's refreshing to see a show that's not over produced. This is and actor/character driven show. Everyone succeeds. Defiantly a "must see". |
