Of Course You Should See It -- It's Noel Coward! Review by: Manhattanite, Dec 18, 2011 |
| Finally, someone has put Kim Cattrall's wonderful acting and comic sense of timing together with Noel Coward's BRILLIANT writing! This is a terrifically witty play, and the acting of Miss Cattrall and Paul Gross (in fact, all four of the lead actors) makes us appreciate every delicious word and joke. The set used for the opening act made me feel a little claustrophobic, but the set of Amanda's apartment in Paris was so wonderfully 1930s, it ... read more reminded me of all those terrific Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies. My seat was in the mezzanine, so I could really see and appreciate the entire set. Go see this play if you can. It's closing earlier than planned; I'm not sure of the date. |

ACTING AT IT'S BEST All four main characters were brilliant. Worth the money for really good seats in the stalls, centre and 4 rows from stage. |

Excellent cast deserves better sight lines Review by: bbop64, Nov 14, 2011 |
| The cast is excellent and a lot of fun. But make sure you do not buy seats in the first several rows on the left or right hand side of the orchestra. For the first act, the set is divided into two with plants serving as a barrier. I was sitting in Row C on the Right and I could not see most of the action on Kim Cattrall's side of the stage (and I missed her entrance). I felt bad for people on the Left hand side of the theatre because ... read more Cattrall crosses over the plants onto Paul Gross' side of the stage and an entire crucial scene plays there. I am sure they could not see most of the action. The director needs to reblock Cattrall's entrance--have her walk all the way downstage so everybody can see her (let's be honest, she's the main draw--although I admittedly went for Paul Gross), and the set designer needs to adjust his set so everybody has a chance to see these wonderful actors in action--lower those darn plants a few inches, and lower that balcony rail and move some of the props in acts 2 and 3 so they're not blocking people's views of the stage. |
