Recommended: Good Acting, Great Set - and Lovely Surprise AFTER the Bows Review by: BroadwayBabySawIt, Jan 13, 2010 |
| This new show is much better than the previous play at this venue (After Miss Julie) because this time, the cast is as good as the set and lighting, all are top notch as we have grown to love from the Roundabout Theater over the years. The only downside is that the material is a bit dated, and what was shocking 60 years ago - infidelity, both accidental and planned varieties - is now not shocking at all, so some of the jokes fall flat. See ... read more it for the great NY cast, particularly Victor Garber and Harriet Harris, these 2 strike comedy sparks off of each other in every scene that they have together. And see it for one of the most beautiful sets ever to grace a NY stage, it got applause as the curtain rose - this is a dream apartment/home, for sure. PS - Please don't be rude and leave early as the bows start, because the cast has one really lovely surprise after the bows - after you think it's over, they sing a lovely farewell to those with the manners and respect for the cast to wait for them to stop bowing and start singing. Those who are running out as the bows begin are missing a lovely treat. Those who have the basic human respect it takes to stay in their seats and applaud the cast (a basic courtesy) are more than rewarded with this unexpected, delightful musical number at the very end. Overall: Recommended, and a relief that the Roundabout is finding its excellent stride again. |

Excellent production. Review by: ana, Jan 13, 2010 |
Excellent. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves for 3 wonderful hours. The set is beautiful, the costumes elegant and the cast is one of the best presently on Broadway and they work so well with one another. It even seems that they are enjoying themselves. It's funny, witty and a pleasure to watch. After the last 4 shows we saw which were the worst-starting with the A Steady Rain continuing with The Starry Messenger, and ending with Wishful ... read more Drinking-we were ready to give up. My husband wanted to see Garber and this show was a breath of fresh talent. We were very pleasantly surprised. Go for it.

Excellent - Do not miss this! Review by: Legs, Jan 11, 2010 |
| A total delight! Noel Coward would approve of this beautifully staged and brilliantly performed production of one of his best plays. Victor Garber has never been better and the supporting cast Harriet Harris is excellent. |

NOT VERY AMUSING, SKIP! Review by: ilasik, Jan 10, 2010 |
| What a disappointment! The first act was a total bore; when I braced myself for another 1 1/2 hrs of this (this is a play with two intermissions) the second act actually got a bit more lovely and I actually chuckled a couple of times. The show slipped again in the first act. Victor Garber was not bad but the script is just not very funny or entertaining at all |
