I totally enjoyed the play, and truly enjoyed the message. I think the play is much more than a love story. It is the mental affect of colonization racism on the love between a black man and a spanish woman. I think it is misrepresented when it is just advertised as a love story between a blackman and a spanish woman, because it is much more than that.

I truly enjoyed the play, the cast is superb! It was as if the audience was allowed into the characters homes and lives to experience a day in the life.
The script sincerely captures the balance between a socially-conscious education and entertainment. We were happy to experience this story with our students.

First of all. Congratulations on an awesome, tell-it-like-it-is play!
I am a 50 year old black man that was born and raised in Spanish Harlem.
I went to see Plantanos & Collard Greens with my girlfriend.
Little did I know that this play was gonna take me there! It took me right back to one summer during High School. Back when I was madly in love with a young Puerto Rican woman. She was darker than me. Nonetheless, her ... read more Mom hated my guts. After all, she was supposed to "lighten his race, not darken it". And my mother wasn't to happy either.
By the end of that summer, their biases broke us up at the end of a beautiful summer!!! Platanos & Collard Greens took me back to that glorious summer, and made me laugh, cry and reminence. I am going to tell everyone I see to run see this play. It was beautiful.

| This is one of the most dissapointing shows I've ever watched. It had great potential to be funny and interesting but instead came across as preachy and sophomric. The acting was horrendous and the script equally bad. My friends and I left after the intermission because we couldn't stomach the thought of actually watching the play to its conclusion. |

| too preachie!! if you want to get a point across don't try to preach while using bad actors as the scapegoat. A story should be just that a "story", not a pseudo idea of a play that's opinionated and unoriginal. |
