DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY Review by: , Sep 12, 2010 |
"A Perfect Crime"... is anything but perfect. So much to see and do in New York, but this is not it. The lead actress should have given it up years ago and if she's in such a hurry to deliver her lines, just retire. The only creditable acting was presented by the crime inspector. Can't begin to express our disappointment. |

Great Mystery Play Review by: Franklin, May 5, 2010 |
| I took six members of my family to see Perfect Crime on a recent evening and we all had a wonderful time. The play reminded me of a particularly intelligent episode of "C.S.I. New York". The acting was very realistic and the set is nice. The theater was pretty full, too, which I think is a testament to the staying power of the play. After all this is the longest running play in NY history. Go see it and have a great time guessing the ending! |

oh my god! Review by: venger, Feb 22, 2010 |
| My wife and I recently sat through this and I cannot for the life of me understand on how it keeps going. It was my idea to go and as i like a good who dunnit and in the picture the leading lady looked rather splendid I thought lets give it a go. What a mistake the picture in the proramme was taken in the 60's and her mother must have been the understudy when we went. The only actor to come out of this with any creedance was the inspector. ... read more Go and watch Jersey Boys instead terrific show. |

It was GREAT! If you didn't like it You didn't pay attention Review by: MR, Feb 10, 2010 |
| Me and my date must have went on a good night, 3rd row seats, drinks allowed in too! This show was funny/exciting/satisfying even though it was a "small" production. I'm not sure if people who are commenting negatively were just lost by the dialogue or were expecting a larger production. There were no scene changes, but thats not really important. The delivery wasn't "fast" - it was perfect as if you were a fast talking confident ... read more person (i've definitely met and know people who speak like the characters ). The leading lady and detective are both sexy and eloquent. This show isn't good for tourists (if they're not native English speakers because it might be too fast to understand). There were way too many twists and details for anyone to figure out "Who Dun It and Why" and if anyone says that they did, then they're lying or already knew. I had a great time, loved the show and loved each character. I might just watch it again to see if I missed something the first time. P.S. - there is an answer key you can get after the show! (Me and my date were happy to meet the leading lady after the show and have a brief talk) Great experience. |

Why is this show still running! Review by: Nick from Jersey, Feb 9, 2010 |
| I had wished I had saw these posted reviews prior to buying the tickets. Everything was right on. Very confusing, hastily performed, can't believe it's been running on Broadway for so long. These people should retire and find another profession. This was not only my perception, but also from the other 8 who attended and others we spoke to after the so-called show. |

Review by: Buckmiester, Jan 30, 2010 |
| Actress was very annoying. She raced thru her lines and had a distracting habit of closing her eyes continually. Story, was of course convoluted as mysteries should be, but at the end neither my wife or I was sure of who killed who. The air conditioning was noisy and cold at times for a night that was 13 degrees outside. |

VERY CONFUSING AND SLOW MOVING Review by: Jay, Dec 31, 2009 |
| The only reason why I even saw this show was because we were standing on the TKTS line for almost 2 hours, and Phantom of the Opera just sold out, so we decided to see this show since i heard it was apparently "the longest running show". This show was so hard to follow, and there would be random things in the play that didnt make sense. You would probably need a script to understand it, but i wouldnt even waste my time. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. |

Don't Believe the Negative Reviews About this Show! Review by: Theater Hound, Dec 12, 2009 |
| Don't beleieve everything you read!!! We are three experienced theatre goers who went to see this play simply because we hadn't seen it in the 18 years it's been running. The play is intriguing (literally), the actors are good. And yes, the theater is small, as are all off-Broadway theaters. This is a lovely, fun, absorbing romp !!! We had a conversation about the play with other memebers of the audience after the play. ... read more How often can you have that experience? The discounted price is an added attraction. |

SO BAD! Review by: , Dec 8, 2009 |
| AWFUL play. I wanted to cry during this for having wasted one of my nights in NY watching this play instead of something good! The direction was bad, the acting was bad, the story was bad and the lead actress screamed all of her lines. I was so annoyed!! There are only 4 cast members and I thought only one did a good job. The group in front of us left during intermission. I have no idea why we didn't. It definitely doesn't get any better ... read more during the second half. Don't waste your time or money. |

Awful in every sense of the word! Review by: chefcristo, Nov 14, 2009 |
What a waste! My wife and left the theatre laughing at ourselves for paying for this sham of a so-called mystery. We also were laughing about the actors: talk about amateurs. I generally avoid local or regional theatre near where I live, but I've seen what I now call outstanding performances compared to this mess of lines, situations, acting techniques in "Perfect Crime". Whichever media reviewers gave this travesty of a ... read more play any hint of a luke-warm review would benefit from taking more college courses in playwriting and acting techniques. |

Terrible Review by: Lil, Nov 5, 2009 |
| It's a perfect crime that they can sell tickets to this show. They prey on out of towners that don't know any better/ The show, acting, set and seats are awful. The "actors" simply race thru their lines to get it over with. Don't waste your money or your time, on this disappointing sham of a show. |

What a waste of our evening in NY... Review by: Mary from Oceanside, Oct 30, 2009 |
My sisters and I recently visited NY for the first time. We decided on off -Broadway, but quickly learned a hard lesson after sitting thru this bomb!! I guess the first clue was when we were seated, and were asked if "we would like to sit closer". I counted 30 in the audience. Next glaring clue, NO ONE applauded at the intermission, why we didn't leave I'm not sure. We were laughing at how bad it was and who picked this one to see. Who ... read more is writing these reviews and how could this be playing for over 20+ years,??? someone is doing a good snow job for sure???.Please Please save your money and go see anything but this, any other play would be better and an improvement. What a waste of money and time on our first visit to this city. |

It Will Be A Crime If You Go! Review by: Sister from Florida, Oct 29, 2009 |
| We should have known the play was going to be bad -- only 30 people in the audience. The actress over-acted and the actors under-acted. It was hard to follow and some of the actors mumbled. I think they just wanted to get it over with. No one in the audience clapped during the play -- we did clap at the end -- thankful that it was over! We should have left at intermission. DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY ON THIS SHOW. The policeman (Tom Cudahy ... read more from All My Children) should go back to AMC as he acted better there than in this play. |

I've seen better from students and amateurs..... Review by: Annette, Oct 23, 2009 |
The story of how on earth this show has survived all these years would be a heck of a lot more interesting than the plot of the play itself. My son and I went to see it on a recent visit to New York. I came out feeling that I had treated him to an off-Broadway show which had let us both down big time. I have been to Broadway and off-Broadway shows before, so know it is not typical, but he doesn’t. He was put off, which ... read more is a shame. This show wouldn’t last ten minutes in the UK. I have seen better productions from drama students at the Edinburgh festival and from Amateur companies. I’m not saying the standard in the UK is higher than in New York, but under normal circumstances, this show wouldn’t survive anywhere for more than ten minutes, without a great deal of extra financial support. So what is going on? One of the front of house staff said that the leading lady has only missed four shows in years and years, but instead of employing an understudy, those four shows were cancelled. She all too clearly needs a rest!! The leading lady was the weak link in the chain for me, and for other members of the audience who I spoke to after the show. The audience in the tiny theatre didn’t even fill half of it the night we went, some people left at the interval, and the applause at the end was a bewildered smatter. The cast took their bow in a rather perfunctory manner, and left with haste. I feel this smacks of a “vanity” project, which is fine, but the quality is so poor, it gives off-Broadway a bad name and the audience should be made aware of the circumstances which surround this production to avoid misleading them. (I suspect the couple of good reviews were friends of the leading lady). It is a tacky, third rate show, with the poorest level of acting you are likely to see on or off Broadway. Avoid it. You’ll see much better elsewhere and it gives Broadway on and off, a bad name.

| New York is a very busy place, if you need to sleep go see this play. I am just glad we shopped for alcohol before we went to the play. All the people around us were laughing at their own stupidity for picking this show. The theatre had only the first 5 rows of seats sold and the girl at the ticket center who recommended this show is either a liar or is on the payroll. She was the best actor of the who show. |
