Uneven show Review by: JW, Jul 27, 2007 |
| Play's tone is too uneven, shifting constantly from drama (bordering on melodrama) to over-the-top farce. Consequently, the story's credibility is severely strained. The leads reflect the show's schizophrenic nature, with Colin giving a restrained down-to-earth performance and Harris giving a performance verging on hysteria. This is not to say the play has no merit; there are amusing moments and the sets and costumes are top notch. However, this ... read more is a show which should be seen only at the discount rate and only if you've already seen virtually everything else on Broadway. |

see only for the 2 Leads... Review by: rskblueyes, Jun 18, 2007 |
I was highly anticipating this production as I'm a big fan of Harriet Harris from both her TV and stage work. She did not disapoint. Margret Colin was excellant as well. The two of them had great chemistry together. The only problem was when these 2 characters werent on stage together, the show was pretty boring.
The work is pretty dated, but the actresses performances as well as the set made the evening enjoyable. |

Much worse than the Betty Eavis movie Review by: , Jun 8, 2007 |
| I saw this show on June 3, 2007 and would not recommend it. It looks and feels very old-fashioned and not funny at all even though it is supposed to be a comedy; the acting was very average. The movie with Betty Davis is much much better. My recommendation is - rent the movie and enjoy it at home. |

OLD ACQUAINTANCE -- Not to be Forgotten Review by: RALPHIE, Jun 1, 2007 |
| I saw the first preview just now and I'm happy to report that OLD ACQUAINTANCE is a delightful, entertaining way to spend 2 1/4 hours. I had tickets for CORAM BOY which closed just in time, so I needed a substitute. But this show wasn't just a fill-in it was really good. I'm also happy to report that with 19 current Broadway shows with gay themes (gay overkill, methinks) here's one more show with no homosexual theme at all. Perhaps because ... read more it was written in 1940. |
