This show has taken my breath away... eleven times Review by: Musical Lover, Feb 19, 2012 |
| The story takes your heart out and makes you look at it. I have seen this musical eleven times with various cast and I ended up in tears every time (like did most of the audience). This musical would make a fantastic opera. It has surpassed Madama Butterfly as my favorite piece of lyric theater. The singing ability of the original cast was uneven and I am looking forward to a revival with a top-notch Diana, which the original cast did not have. |

Marin's voice was beyond strange. Too much of a downer for me, needed more light moments. I have seen many a show, but this one would not be one I could recommend.

Next to Normal better than any Normal Musical Review by: Diract 66, Jan 3, 2011 |
| Go see this show for a different Broadway experience. Although the subject matter of depression may be, in fact, depressing the performances are inspired and passionate. Marin Mazzie is especially effective in her total persona. Her performance and singing spark an emotion that keeps the play moving and the rest of the cast is also quite remarkable. The subject matter of a woman who cannot handle a truth and it affects her whole life in a very ... read more negative matter is, it seems to me, very new to Broadway audiences. At least, as it is done in this show. I do not recommend this for a first musical for children but this is a must see for intelligent theatre goers. This show is an example of how theatre can move you in just two hours to a very unique experience in life. I am glad I saw this show and I hope you feel the same way. A Doll's House musical, if you know what I mean! If we all can't be normal than can we be next to normal? See it now, sharp discounts and worth it more than any other show. |

Very enjoyable! Review by: G Villagers, Dec 23, 2010 |
Loved the show. Did not know much about it, except for its having been around a while and having won some awards. We went in without any expectations and came out really happy. Very imaginative stage set designs; Good music, with both violins and electric guitars; Funny lines here and there, with very good acting, and so on. A very intelligent, creative, and ultimately enjoyable production. It is a pity that it is closing soon.

run to see this one!! Review by: broadwayman, Nov 15, 2010 |
Went to see play Saturday afternoon. Play was just plain fantastic. Actors were true professionals. Great story and having a relative with the same mental illness I thought it was done very well. If you have a chance run to see this play. They made an announcement that the play was closing in January 2011...I was shocked!! |

Something Next To Normal Would Be Okay Review by: Jimbo, Oct 19, 2010 |
| Perhaps the most briliant theater piece I've ever witnessed. It educated and entertained me beyond my expectations. Marin Mazzie is the Diana for all seasons. The rest of the cast gives first rate performances and no one is as cute as HENRY! |

Brilliant and moving! Review by: Emma, Sep 4, 2010 |
| I absolutely love this show! I saw it once the week before Jennifer and Alice left, which was amazing, and again a few weeks later with the new cast. It isn't really funny and it doesn't have elaborate sets and costumes like other shows, but that's what's so great about it. The fact that it can move the audience and be way more powerful than any other show with such a small cast and limited set proves that it's amazing. I ... read more love the music and I don't really understand how people can say that it has no meaning. The music was the most powerful thing for me. This is the best show I've ever seen. I'm seeing it again tomorrow for the third time! It is really sad and you do have to think when you see it, so don't see it expecting to be entertained and to laugh. It's intellectual, if that makes sense. There's a lot to understand but I'm only 15, and I love this so much! There were a few things that I didn't understand the first time that my mom had to explain to me. My friend saw it and didn't like it, but it's because she didn't get it. Anyway, best show ever! |

Still remains a great show!!!! Review by: Ed H, Aug 14, 2010 |
| Saw Next to Normal for my third time with the new cast. it still is one of the all time greats on Broadway. Marin Mazzie was really amazing and gives a very emotional performance. Kyle Dean Massey also gives a great performance as Gabe, he definitely has star potential. Was glad to see the show again, love the music and score alot. |

| Saw N2N for the 4th time last night and must tell you that Marin Mazzie was AMAZING, as always. Her husband off and on stage was also fabulous as was the rest of the cast. GO SEE N2N if haven't yet and if you have, see it again. |
