A beautiful and moving production. So sad it's closing Review by: quizking101, Jun 24, 2010 |
NEXT FALL is probably one of the greatest pieces of theatre I have seen all year (and that includes GOD OF CARNAGE, HAIR, and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES). The story is beautiful and deeper than the "sitcom-y" shlock that people say it is. It was funny and sentimental at all the right moments. The cast was amazing and I felt for all of their characters. It's such a shame this fabulous show and it's cast got robbed of Tony awards and now is forced ... read more to close. Go see it before it's too late. (CLOSING JULY 4TH) |

You laugh, you cry...... Review by: janey, May 2, 2010 |
| Everything was said in the previous reviews about what this play is about. I would just like to add this was wonderful on all levels. The story, which is not new has a very new feel to it. The acting was especially good. Just a great night at the theater. |

Laugh, cry, squirm and be challenged Review by: , Apr 26, 2010 |
| My husband and I saw this, not really sure of what it was about. While some of it is material that been done before this is in many ways a deeply profound play. It is challenging (in between the very big laughs) in unexpected ways. It makes one think about relationships, what we are willing accept/reject about ourselves and those we love, and the painful grayness of the spectrum of love. My husband and I have talked about this play ... read more four times in two days - each time with specific reference to our lives. Each time, like the play, we are left with more questions than answers, but enriched for the analysis and meaning for our life together. |

Next Fall will bring you to your feet! Review by: Leawoodcats, Apr 6, 2010 |
| This is a play that creeps up on you. There are so many layers to this work, and the total of all of these layers is sure to have a significant impact on the the viewer. Although most superficially a sit-com comedy, and parts are very funny, the soul of this show is its religious discussions and how religion impacts on life and death issues, and critical friendships. That being said, this play is not preachy, but it is thought-provoking.... read more. Although there are stereotyped characters, such as the Southern intolerant father of a gay son, this typing is never over-bearing. The actors are all perfectly chosen, and this adds to the believability of this plot. The sets are very contemporary, easily changed, and add to the seamless direction that is apparent. There is also some nice supporting recorded music. All-in-all, this is a solid Broadway play that deserves significant public support. |

One of the Best American Plays... Review by: tophat143, Mar 28, 2010 |
| ..I've seen since August: Osage County. The production is first rate. The play deals with homosexuality and religion and relationship with loved ones. When do we tell our loved ones about how we feel before it's too late. The play left you asking that question and more. It's written without being too hokey and stayed away from being just another Hallmark movie. You will leave the theater hopeful I hope and tears in your eyes. Go see this ... read more moving play. it's not just a gay play, but a people's play. |

A Terrific Play Review by: bc, Mar 22, 2010 |
| One of the best plays we have seen in years (and we see a lot of them!) Next Fall is a smart, thoughtful and multi-layered examination of the complexities of relationships. The ensemble cast is terrific. The play is completely engaging; there is not a slack moment. It's contemporary, moving, funny and altogether way in front of the pack. Don't miss it. |

A well written lot of human characters who attempt to understand one another's beliefs. A very funny dramedy. Review by: pucknyc7, Mar 21, 2010 |
| I am so glad I finally got to see this play. Yes, part of it is a love story between two gay men and their differing religious beliefs in addition to the friends and family around them that are woven into a beautifully written script. The playwright has written some beautifully human characters on whom he does not cast judgement. You are introduced to them one by one and watch them hilariosly and hearbrakingly open up. Beautifully designed and ... read more wonderfully directed I recommend this as a wonderful new American play to go see. ENJOY! |

BAD SITCOM Review by: b bop, Mar 12, 2010 |
| IT IS A SITCOM and NOTHING MORE. NOT ONLY is the central argument about Christianity simple to the point of being irritating (and repeated ad nauseam), but why are we watching a relationship where they only seem to fight about this same thing with no other insight? Really what else do they have? ASMART & SENSITIVE? Hardly UTTERLY CONTEMPORARY? perhaps if you were living 20 years ago. It's cliché after cliché. |

a Great play!!!! Review by: GothProf, Mar 10, 2010 |
| We loved this play- simple, beautiful, and really moving. It's a great experience. REALLY funny- yet at the same time- it raises a lot of really powerful questions with out beating you over the head with them. The audience loved it- and many seem to be returning for a second visit. Totally worth the 90.00 I spent of the tkt. All my friends felt the same. |

Will and Grace do Broadway Review by: , Feb 22, 2010 |
| This could be Will and Grace do serious theater! Obvious and witty dialogue from the usual rollcall of gay characters - the ditsy mom, the distant father, the brooding best friend. Entertaining but wears its heart on its sleeve and nowhere near scratches the surface of the fascinating subject matter. A tribute to the showmanship of its producer, Sir Reg .....showy, likeable, accomplished and you know you'll be reaching for the Kleenex when ... read more they all have the final bvonding experience! |
