Worst Musical Ever Review by: KnightWhoSaysNo, May 18, 2011 |
| Spamalot was a tremendous disappointment. The production is overdone, given the material to work with. The "new" musical numbers are underwhelming, and the original material lifted directly from The Holy Grail hasn't aged well. Save your money, or just go rent/buy a copy of The Holy Grail. The stage production is a huge waste of time. |

Good time for both Python & non-Python fans! Review by: Maew, Aug 9, 2009 |
Just went to the production at Ahmanson in L.A. today. I've always been a Monty Python fan and this musical doesn't disappoint me! They captured and did a good job staging all key original elements we love from the celluloid version (like the coconut galloping sound) with springles of new/current sarcastic humors. The music & dances were great. I moved along the songs throughout the show. I saw it with a non-Python fan, and she still enjoyed ... read more it (even not as much as I). I'd totally recommend ALL Python fans to go. Even if you're not, this is one hilarious musical you shouldn't miss. |

Super show! Review by: shel, Dec 22, 2008 |
| Wow, it was a super show! Am a huge fan of the movie and was worried I would be disappointed - that was not the case! LOVED IT! Can't get the songs and scenes out of my head. Only complaint is that it's closing and I won't get a chance to see it a second time. |

| Hysterical show! The acting and singing was great, and I laughed the entire time. It's not just for Monty Python fans though -- I think anyone can appreciate the humor. Definitely worth seeing! |

FOR A GOOD TIME! Review by: sonja, Jul 2, 2008 |
| From the moment the curtain went up, until it went down...all 10 of us (parents, teens and twenty-somethings) didn't stop laughing! What a wonderful surprise this show was - we weren't prepared for how delightful it would be! |

Don't go! Review by: BM, May 12, 2008 |
Being a visitor to NY, I could not believe the quality of this show. This is what I would expect from an amateur theatre company back home. MP fans cannot be amused! For me the test of a threatre production is being able to notice only the characters and not the actors playing the characters. Not the case here folks... I am sorry, I just do not get it. As said by other reviewers, don't waste your money; rent the video and have a ... read more good laugh! |

Worth every dime Review by: me, Nov 12, 2007 |
| Don't go to it with expectations and just enjoy what you see. Witty and hilarious. I took my 8 year old son, whose favorite movie is "Holy Grail" and was not uncomfortable at all with what he saw. It appealed to an 8 year old level, as well as mine. I am not normally a laugh-out-loud person, but I couldn't stop myself. Absolutely hilarious, wonderfully staged and worth every dime. |

Disappointed Review by: , Aug 19, 2007 |
| This was just an okay production in my opinion. I expected it to be funier than it was. It was entertaining, but I would not recommend it to others. Go see Phantom, Hairspray or any of the DIsney productions first. |

Monty Python fans will enjoy this.. others, maybe not Review by: Frosty, Jul 13, 2007 |
| My wife and friends brought me here for a birthday present. I am not a particular fan of Monty Python, so it wasn't as enjoyable for me as it was for the rest of our group. It was entertaining though, although at times it was difficult to understand the heavy English accent with some of the actors. If you are a Python fan, then you'll probably enjoy it, but if not, you might want to see something else... |

See it, it's great. Review by: Grum, Mar 28, 2007 |
| Just saw the show in Philadelphia. It was great and I would recommend it to anyone. It has everything a musical comedy should have and is probably the funniest I have ever seen. I've read reviews panning it and most of those were comparing it to "Holy Grail". That is NOT the name of the show. Although most of the funniest skits from the "Grail" were used many were brand new and/or spoofs on other classic Broadway musicals. If you ... read more like Monty Python humor and go without preconceived notions I guarantee you will really enjoy it. |

Save your money -- don't go. What a waste. Review by: stagestrucknyc.com, Oct 14, 2006 |
| What a huge waste. Over-produced, excessively enthusiastic reaction by an audience that was laughing and shouting before the show even began. Save your money and rent the original movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was funnier and not so overdone. |

Excellent, but all too familiar Review by: s, Aug 7, 2006 |
This is a very well done Broadway production. Good scenery and costumes. Great cast. Good music and lots of laughs. I have to admit, though, that it is a complete clone of Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail, which I have seen dozens of times and can practically recite the whole movie word for word. Same charactors, same scenes, same punch lines:
- He must be a king. He hasn't got %$#@ all over him - The Holy Handgrenade of ... read more Antioch - Tim the Enchanter - The Nights Who Say Nee - Even the night who gets all four limbs chopped off in the sword fight.
As such, It wasn't as funny for me as it would be for someone not so familiar with the content. Nonetheless, a first class show. |
