Rock and Roll History Review by: brooklyn lady, May 16, 2010 |
| Saw this play on May 15. It was fun. Interesting to see how these legends are played by the actors. They do not look like them and rely on copying their physical traits in the performances. The actor playing Jerry Lee Lewis adds the most fun to the show. I guess the original JLL was more outgoing than the other legends. You here some great music and get to know some of the ins and outs of how the careers of these legends developed. ... read more The actress playing Elvis' girlfriend is outstanding. Your eyes are on her as she sings her songs. The show is short and I was grateful for the encore performances with all its glitz and lights, music and wild ending. |

I have recommended this show to everyone I know!!! Review by: Rachel, Apr 22, 2010 |
| I have seen many shows and I have never had an experience like this. It was extremely enjoyable from beginning to end. Many people complain about the show not having a great story but I disagree. The music is the star of the show. It does not need as elaborate story when you have some of the greatest music of all time. There is nothing wrong with keeping it simple. There's no need for a big dramatic storyline in a show like this. I ... read more personally love hearing the back-stories of some of my favorite musicians of all time. The cast is phenomenal. They are all extremely talented specifically the 4 who portray the musicians. They really embody their characters without resorting to cheap imitations. I have recommended this show to everyone I know and I will continue to see it many more times! |

Rock and Roll Lives On Review by: Mr. C, Apr 19, 2010 |
It is a great show. I really felt that I was reliving history being part of the great jam session with the greatest rock and roll stars that ever lived. The singing and instrumental pieces were tremendous. The actors playing Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash were outstanding. The only flaw if you can say it is one; is that the show should have been longer. It was that good. I am planning to go back and see the show with my daughter. |

Whole lot of shakin' goin' on.... :O) Review by: The Pink Bunny, Apr 17, 2010 |
On a scale of 10, I would give it an 8 1/2, 9... I think it is partially the ticket sellers fault. When asked where best to sit to see Jerry Lee play, I was told any place in the house, not!!! You MUST sit on the left side of the house (walking in to theatre, left side when facing the stage). If you grew up on any of these guys, you'll love the show... I think I was more critical of the gentleman that played Johnny Cash as I felt ... read more 'I Walk the Line' did not have the depth Mr. Cash could achieve. Strong similarities to 'Jersey Boys' toward the end - some may even find one scene that can be compared to the table scene.... |

A premise that doesn't deliver Review by: goldenboy, Apr 16, 2010 |
4 Rock legends meet one day and jam in a recording session. And???? That's where the story ends. It's a premise that never delivers. it is an excuse. The last 10 minutes are wonderful (which is the curtain call) unfortunately you have to sit through that dreck parading as a Broadway Musical for- 70 minutes. Levi Kreis gives a wonderful performance as Jerry Lee Lewis, The rest of the cast are all yawns |

Love this show.......... Review by: Izzy, Apr 12, 2010 |
....funny that "Frequent Theatre Goer" thinks s/he is the only one who has seen most of the shows. This is a different type of show than The Lion King, (duh!), but if other frequent theatre patrons enjoyed it as much - who is he/she to say they are wrong. He/she is welcome to their opinion and the rest of us are welcome to our own. Ta Da! |

| We had a rock 'n rollin' good time! Anyone who grew up with the rock 'n roll music of the 50's will love this show. Bring the younger folk to see how four of the great ones started. |

Great Show, will surely see again!!! Review by: Theater Gal 74, Apr 10, 2010 |
I really enjoyed the show. I am a frequent theater goer & believe that this was almost comparable to the big shows out there. The character of Jerry Lee Lewis(understudy at my show) was phenomenal!! Carl Perkins & Johnny Cash were excellent too. Elvis was not the best match look & sound wise but was entertaining. The finale was powerful!!!! I will surely see the show again!! |

Not worth every penny, just OK Review by: frequent theatregoer, Apr 9, 2010 |
My review is much different that all the previous reviewers, perhaps they are not frequent theatre goers and can’t compare it to great shows that are out there. I think it is more suited for off-Broadway. I have seen most Broadway shows – there is no way no how one reviewer can compare this to Jersey Boys or Mamma Mia. Mary Poppins, Memphis, Lion King, Hair, In the Heights - these are all phenomenal shows, this one sadly ranks towards the ... read more bottom of my list and I do like the music from that era. The story is weak and the actor who plays Carol Perkins, with his Southern drawl made it difficult at times to understand him. Even with the music the beginning is slow moving. The actors are very good, with the one playing Jerry Lee Lewis stealing the show with his exceptional piano playing. The show is 90 min with no intermission and the last 10 min is the best part with high energy.

Million Dollar Quartet - worth every penny! Review by: LoveBroadway, Apr 8, 2010 |
Fabulous show - better than expected. I don't like "tribute shows" as a rule and was afraid that this would be something like that. It was, however, nothing like that. Go see it. You will smile on your way out of the theatre. The guy who plays Carl Perkins is exceptional. My teenager was not put off by the dated music - these are classics, played well, by talented musicians - music lovers of all ages can and will enjoy this. |

The show ROCKS!! Review by: Jo Jo, Apr 5, 2010 |
| I loved this play and couldn't understand while other theater goers weren't out of their seats. It rocked and for those who loved that era, it is a rare treat. The actor who plays Jerry Lee Lewis was phenomenol as well as the character of Johnny Cash. But I also agree that Elvis was a little weak not in his performance but in the physical character. I hope the play makes it as the theatre was only 2/3'rds filled on Easter. |

Billion Dollar Quartet on today's dollar! Review by: Leawoodcats, Apr 1, 2010 |
| This has the same feel-good chemistry as Jersey Boys or Mamma Mia. The story is the weakest feature of the show, but what you will see is 90 minutes of dynamite performances by four phenomenal actors who play the roles of Presley, Lewis, Perkins, and Cash as they sing through many of the best rock and roll songs of the 1950's. This quartet has been transplanted in total from Chicago where this show has been a sell-out hit for over a year. At the ... read more preview performance tonight the audience stood at the end roaring their unanimous approval of this outstanding production. I could easily see this show again. |

Review by: Jerry, Mar 31, 2010 |
| One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. I kept wondering if the rest of the audience were having as much fun as my wife and I. At the end, the five minute standing ovation convinced me we weren't alone. A great, great, show. I would highly recommend it to anyone old enough to remember any of the shows characters. Hope the show has a long run. |

you cant go wrong with this production Review by: newhighland, Mar 28, 2010 |
its all good..., dont believe the other reviews that say elvis was weak or i didnt like this..., these are the people who complain about staying at a florida hotel when the weather is a little cold and the pool water wasnt warm enough to swim in..., i would say go and grab some ticket(s) while still in previews, reason is this, the original cast is in sync from a year at the chicago theatre gigs, the story is good, the musicianship is ... read more excellent, this show will rock and roll you from begining to end, |

| Enjoyed this play, however, I think Elvis was weaker in character than the others. Jerry Lee was awesome and Johnny Cash was well cast. This play is great for those who know the music of Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins, its less enjoyable for those who don't have any connection to the music. I would recommend the play especially to those of the era! |
