Master Class Review by: Irene (no relation to the hurricane), Aug 26, 2011 |
This performance is what is meant in theatre by a tour de force performance! Tyne Daly was transformed into Maria Callas -- her voice, her manner, her carriage, her bravura filled the stage. In addition to a performance that should not be missed, the piece of writing was equally exceptional. I learned so much about what contributed to making Maria Callas the grand and imperious personality she was... through humor and internal voices. ... read more The play was very intelligent, yet subtle. The supporting actors were engaging and extremely talented. This is a piece of theatre not to be missed!! By the way, I have only seen one opera in my life so I am NOT an opera fan! |

Great show Review by: emmgal, Aug 19, 2011 |
| This was an incredible evening in the theatre. It exceeded all expectations. I did not see that level of performance in years. This is a must to see show. Tyne Daly deserves all possible awards for the season. |

Please don't miss this!! Review by: , Aug 14, 2011 |
| I went to the show because it was TYNE DALY! I left researching Narie Callis. Ms. Daly's performance is that spellbinding. If only I lived in NYC to see it again and again. |

I was inspired Review by: OG, Aug 12, 2011 |
I liked the show and especially the touching lines that the Broadway Maria Callas said to one of her students while giving a master class to Julliard School students during 1971 "but what's the point of going on with it if it's all wrong, eh?" "It's not a note we're after there, it's a stab of pain. The pain of loss" The voices of the students singing for the Master were incredible.

A Great Show Review by: Mr. C, Aug 4, 2011 |
| Excellent, excellent and excellent. If this revival doesn't win Tonys for best actress and best show there is something wrong. This was theater at its best. The audience was captivated with the show and a stganding ovation was given at the conclusion. |

Tyne Day brings Callas to life! Review by: Legs, Jul 22, 2011 |
Tyne Daly is the reason to see this production. She is simply magical, transforming herself into the character completely in a performance that is mesmerizing. Even the front row idiot with the loudly ringing cell phone could not disturb Daly's authenticity. She simply incorporated that outrageous rudeness into the play, admonishing the master class/audience to control this kind of disturbance and then chastising the idiot woman directly. ... read more See Master Class -- hopefully with no disruptions -- it's terrific. p.s. Besides turning off phones, it would be so nice if people stopped eating in the theater. |

ONE HITCH TO PERFECT NIGHT AT THE THEATRE Review by: bobk49, Jul 5, 2011 |
| Just returned home from Tuesday nights performance and all I can say is BRAVA BRAVA BRAVA to the cast, the director and the set designer. It was a true evening at the theater. The only issue I had was with the one costume that Tyne Daly wears during her performance. It does not befit the character that Maria Callas was even in her declining years.I knew Callas up until the bitter end and she was always well dressed and made up to perfection. Tyne ... read more Daly looks the part, acts the part but does not dress the part wearing a non-descript black pantsuit, a tacky handbag, costume jewelry and a fake Hermes scarf. Surely the budget could include one great outfit with proper accessories to complete her BRAVA performance. |

A Must See if You Love Theater Review by: jef, Jul 5, 2011 |
Was thrilled when I read Tyne Daly ws coming to Broadway with Master Class. She had done it last year in Washington D.C. so I went to see it in previews here in NYC. It is everything I had expected, she commands the stage. Great PLAY!! WE in NYC this season have been blessed with some major shows. Master Class, The Normal Heart and War Horse to name three. |

Masterful Review by: TTTime, Jul 2, 2011 |
| One of the best nights I've had in the theatre in a long, long time. Tyne Daly is giving an incredible performance--a tour de force that will be talked about for years to come. At turns funny and deeply moving, MASTER CLASS is terrifically entertaining. |
