Good Review by: , Dec 4, 2011 |
| Went to show Nov 26th, pretty good however I too saw the blonde hair boy and the other writer was correct, he was over the top with the acting and I didn't care for it.. Show was good and all.. Mary and Bert did really a good job.. Ensemble members were really really good with the dancing and singing .. |

That was Mary Poppins? Review by: broadwaybaby, Nov 28, 2011 |
| This was soooo disappointing- it was NOT Mary Poppins- it was cute if you have never seen the movie, but it was not even a bit like it- so go with no expectations if you go at all. The cast was good except the little blonde boy who played Michael Banks- he was annoyingly the over-actor- yes, he's a kid, but also a professional, and he irked me- but the show was just nothing like the movie, which I adored. Left me cold. If you have not ... read more seen the movie- go for it. If you have? Don't think of it as Mary Poppins- think of it as a fun kids show- because that is what it is. |

Disappointing Review by: LASuth, Nov 28, 2011 |
| Worst broadway production I have ever seen, if I had gone by myself I would have left at intermission. The original Mary Poppins is a classic, a wonderful musical, "Practically perfect in every way"! However this broadway production made unnecessary adaptations that completely changed the storyline and the characters! And didn't even include some of the favourite scenes of any true Mary Poppins fan! The only enjoyable part for me was the ... read more maid, she was the only true to the original character and she did an amazing job! |

CRAZY NOT TO GO! Review by: , Oct 2, 2011 |
| I saw Mary Poppins last night at the Amsterdam theater in NYC. It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! One of the best broadway shows I've ever seen! Maybe even the best! Totally one of my favorites! Such a cute story, great music, very lively, and heartfelt. I don't want to give it all away, but it is a MUST SEE! |

HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE MARY POPPINS? Review by: siouxfans, Aug 11, 2011 |
| I almost fell off my chair when I read people's critical review of this show! Are you kidding me? You either are high maintenance, you are too serious, or you have no sense of fun. I've seen this 8 times over a variety of trips to NYC. I keep going and keep going because nothing ever comes close to being as entertaining or magical. The chemistry between Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee is phenomenal. You won't be disappointed!!!!!! |

Problems lie in the story Review by: yodastar, Aug 10, 2011 |
| This was the first Broadway show I've been to where I was very disappointed with the production. Most of the problems lie in the story. I wouldn't have minded it being so different from the movie had it had something more to add. Most of the added musical numbers fell flat and were boring. Although Mary Poppins and Bert were lovely, the children were too shrill and loud in their performances. Mrs. Banks is no more the fiesty fighter of the movie,... read more, but a lowly housewife, and Mr. Banks isn't very nice at all. See Lion King instead. |

Great show! Review by: Mary Fan 97, Aug 7, 2011 |
| Some people just LOVE to criticize, like the people on this page. Take some advice and go see this show, you won't regret it. I can't remember a second I wasn't smiling throughout this musical. It's perfect for ANYONE over the age of seven. It's the music and characters everyone loves, combined with adorable sets, dancing, costumes, and everything else you can think of. Go see it! P.S. It isn't an exact imitation of the movie. It had parts ... read more from the book too. |

Not worth the money or your time Review by: lois, Jun 25, 2011 |
Myself, my husband, and our 4 kids, ages 12, 8, and twin 5 year olds were very excited to go see Mary Poppins. We enjoyed the other Disney shows of the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast but Mary Poppins does not belong in the same category at all. It was slow, out of sequence from the film, dark, and boring. My husband fell asleep, he doesn’t usually, my 8 year old fell asleep, and I almost fell asleep. While my 5 year olds ... read more were totally engaged with Lion King they were painfully bored with Mary Poppins. They added new songs that were weird and just didn’t fit the story line. The part with the toys coming alive was creepy and out of place. The part with the other nanny, the mean one, was again creepy and the way Mary Poppins handled her, it appeared that Mary Poppins poisoned her. I know one shouldn’t compare it to the movie, how can you not, but the story line was out of sequences, the songs were out of order, and the story line seemed dark and just plain boring. The only number we liked was the Steppin Time dance. Other than that I’d just recommend staying at home and watching the DVD. Julie Andrews is the only Mary Poppins I want to see. Disappointed in Portland

Disappointed by Mary Poppins Review by: jessie, Jun 20, 2011 |
| This show was a real disappointment. The best number-- which is terrific is well into the second act-- Steppin Time. I can take a musical that is fluffy, but this one was actually boring in some parts. The songs were just so-so. The sets and the effects were excellent, but I would save your money and see the movie with Julie Andrews. |

This show was SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALADOCIOUS!!!!!!!! Review by: 97baby<3, Jun 11, 2011 |
| GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!!! The special effects leave you speechless at some points, Mary Poppins flies, Bert walks upside down on the ceiling (NOT KIDDING!), the sets, costumes, and props are amazing, and everything is colorful! Such a talented cast too. Ashley Brown was a "practically perfect" Mary Poppins and she should stick with the role over Laura Michelle Kelly. PLEASE GO SEE IT! FYI i sat second row which you SHOULD try to do. |

Was a "Jolly Holiday" at the theatre! Review by: broadwaynut1991, Apr 30, 2011 |
| I've been hearing about this show since it opened up on Broadway back in 2006-ish, but never had the time and money to see it since I live in Florida. Well, the touring company came and I went to see it with my mother, who's 63 at the time and we thought no one could replace Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dike and Mary and Bert. Well, the show started and we were tapping our toes, singing, clapping and dancing in our seats. Yes, the show ... read more is different, but we loved it. When Bert (played by Gavin Lee) did his dance number in "Step In Time" (those who've seen it know what I'm talking about) and Mary flying got us cheering. Please, please, PLEASE see this show! Weather you are alone, with a friend, co-worker, boss or on your honeymoon...SEE IT!!! I honestly think you will leave with a smile and talk about it for ages. |

Great scenery, sets, singing and dancing! Review by: Ronnie, Mar 20, 2011 |
| I took my daughter and grandchildren, ages 8 and 10, to see the show today and we loved it. The sets and scenery were great, as were the costumes, singing and dancing. I was very impressed with the quality of the show and would recommend it to anyone. |

| My son took me to this show last night. It has been my favorite movie for the last 30 years.I just dont understand WHY they take something so classic and change it to something you cant even recognize. As far as Im concerned they have no right calling this Mary Poppins they should have called it Mary Poppins the sequel then I would have known to stay home. |
