Martin falls SHORT with this show! Review by: Funnyman 2, Jan 4, 2007 |
| My wife and I saw this show as our afternoon choice for my birthday. I am a fellow stand-up comedian and found this show to be somewhat disappointing!! Some parts were hilarious and other parts of the show were just plain STUPID!! How can you charge broadway prices and give such a lacluster performance as Martin did. I went to the show with very high expectations after seeing a video clip off of Broadway.com against my wife's wishes. I ... read more told her the clips of the show looked funny as hell. After we left the show BOTH of us were disappointed that we spent $120.00 on a show that should have been worth around $30.00 a ticket. Glad it is scheduled to leave NY on Jan. 7th! |

Short path to the funny bone! Review by: JABMoore, Dec 11, 2006 |
| I saw this show back in September. Martin Short was amazing with never a dull moment. The man is pure comedic genius with an amazing supporting cast. Hint: if possible sit in the first few rows stage left for an interactive treat. |

EXCELLENT SHOW Review by: avkuehn, Nov 4, 2006 |
WOW! Martin Short is a crowd pleaser! Standing ovation from almost everyone in the audience. Not only is Martin Short very funny, but the entire cast is really GREAT! We also got our picture with him when he was leaving the theatre. The songs were great and well written, and brought lots of laughs.

Simply Not Funny Review by: JW, Nov 2, 2006 |
| While this show is amusing at times, it simply is not funny; in addition, one sketch is truly distasteful--and I am not prudish. The show relies much too much on latter-year celebrity impersonations, limiting its appeal to those younger than say, 35. The cast is talented, but try as they might, it's impossible to produce diamonds from glass. At Broadway prices, this show is definitely a no go. |

Review by: , Oct 14, 2006 |
There was one skit that deserves special consideration. Here, Martin Short is at the Academy Awards and he is nominated for playing a mentally challenged Holocaust survivor whose one-winged pet parrot has been denied a seat on the city bus. The presenters direct the audience to the movie clip, which is actually performed live. The "clip" consists of Short running in circles around the bird while continuously yelling "Let Mr Feathers ... read more ride with me". At that point, I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. A quick glance down the aisle revealed that I was not alone. It was one of the funniest scenes I've ever witnessed.

Capathia should've stopped the show from the beginning Review by: folkyboy, Sep 25, 2006 |
That review of the lady who was aghast that her child might be exposed to cheap genetalia jokes was funnier than the actual production itself. This show caters to the television audience and less to the cultured crowd. It's unfortunate that he couldn't have worked some more serious numbers in there and showed off what a beautiful voice the man actually has.
I love making fun of other people as much as anyone else. But this schadenfreude ... read more just felt pathetic. |

MARTIN SHORT SCORES HIGH with FAME BECOMES ME. Review by: RALPHIE, Sep 24, 2006 |
RELENTLESSLY FUNNY and coming at you fast with one belly laugh after another, MARTIN SHORT does the funniest show since SPAMALOT --- maybe even funnier. In 2006, we still have a few good stand-up comics (Jerry Seinfeld, Ray Romano) but most of the actor-comedians that can do one funny skit after another like Jackie Gleason, Jerry Lewis, Abbott & Costello) are long since gone. I never thought Martin Short was in that category, until last night ... read more when he received two standing ovations, well deserved. The show isn't pure clean, but obscenities are at a refreshing minimum in this era when swear words are readily accepted as jokes. A great show. |

Just Great! I laughed so hard I hurt! Review by: Natalie, Sep 4, 2006 |
| This was soooo entertaining!!! My husband and I loved it. You have to be old enought to appreciate Martin Short and his antics. Our 24 year old loved it too! I never see anything twice, but I would see this again, I am sure I missed some humor while laughing at the previous scene. I caught myself looking at the Playbill and counting how many songs were left, because I didn't want it to end. Music was cute, Martin was great and the supporting ... read more cast was excellent. A must see, makes you feel good the rest of the day. |

Potentially a great show! Review by: MJF56, Aug 18, 2006 |
| Saw the show in Toronto a few months ago and thought it had a lot of potential. It was a bit disjointed but had a lot of wonderful and creative moments as well as a few that were embarrassing and amateurish. Notwithstanding, Mr. Short and the supporting cast is excellent. Those of you who just know Mary Birsong from Reno 911 are in for a shock! She is enormously talented and just about stole the show. I only wish Marc Shaiman was used more ... read more creatively. I have been a fan since he played piano for The Sweeney Sisters on SNL. He was wasted in his onstage moments, capable of much more. I hope the show has been tweaked since Toronto. Still, I recommend it.....but...don't bring the kids! |
