Excellent! Review by: Ally, Jan 10, 2013 |
| Determined to find her biological father, Sophie, daughter of rebellious single-mother Donna, invites three possible fatherly candidates to her upcoming wedding. When the three men arrive at the hotel owned by Donna, it turns into utter chaos as she desperately tries to prepare for Sophie’s wedding while avoiding her three previous lovers. The cast of characters was colorfully selected with beautiful voices. My ... read more foot was tapping and I was singing along to every song throughout this wonderfully performed Broadway play. My personal favorite scene was at the end, when the cast of characters made an encore appearance and sang to the audience as if it were a concert. Their costumes were beautiful and literally show stopping! I would recommend this play to anyone who enjoys upbeat, flashy musicals with catchy songs and talented actors. I would definitely see this again. |

Casting Disaster Review by: Maggie, Oct 28, 2012 |
| Mamma Mia was a casting disaster. The young male lead that was supposed to be a young, virile heterosexual male who had been in Greece all summer turned out to be a very obvious pale homosexual. The kissing scenes were painful. I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality but surely the director can see the problem here. And the only "great" singing were the two friends of the female lead. We were wondering why they didn't give the lead ... read more to the blonde, sexy friend. She was extremely talented. I can't comment about the second half because we left at intermission and we paid $225 for our seats, row E. The acting was atrocious. I think the positive reviews must be people the production company are paying to go online. |

Not worthy of Broadway - bad singing! Review by: Cindy, Oct 3, 2012 |
| I'm a huge Broadway fan and see lots of musicals, and this is the first time that I felt something wasn't worth being on Broadway. The singing was SO disappointing. I've seen better high school musicals. The only person on stage who was entertaining and could slightly sing was Tanya, a friend of Donna. Everyone else should go back to their local community theaters, if that. The lead men were a joke - no charisma, no voices. |

AAAHHH - I'd rather have a tooth pulled.... Review by: PooBahGee, Aug 10, 2012 |
| I have never walked out of a Broadway show at intermission....until I recently went to see "Mamma Mia!" two weeks ago. It was like watching a production at a high school. Average acting with below average choreography. Don't waste your time or money. |

Don't Go! Review by: Broadway Bill, May 24, 2012 |
| This play was a disappointment. It's tired with boring stage sets, below average singing, dancing and acting. Couldn't believe I was watching a Broadway play. The music was distorted. Thought we were listening to canned music instead of a live orchestra until we looked into the pit and saw only a few musicians. This play has served it's purpose and should close. Save your money and watch the movie instead. |

| What a great show!!! Actor/Actress's were wonderful, very entertaining the whole time! Also sets, great colors, these people have wonderful talent! Loved it and would go again. We were a group of 4 and we think this was just as good as Wicked!!! WARNING: be sure to inquire about prices of drinks before ordering, that is the only complaint, bottle of water 5.00, a plastic cup of soda, (not a cup to keep either) 15.00 for a mixed drink, Ridiculous!... read more! |

| $79 for a high school musical. Lisa Brescia was worthwhile as Donna. But, her daughter, Sophie as played by Liana Hunt, was very sub par. Sophie's two young friends, Lisa and Ali, were Middle School caliber and her financee Sky, right there with them. Our show did have the understudies playing two of those three roles. We also had an understudy for Rosie, one of Donna's two friends. Bottom line, even if we had not had so many understudies for ... read more the bigger roles, go elsewhere. This show came as close as you can come to ruining great music. |

loved it! Review by: lanky, Feb 14, 2012 |
All I can say is high energy and loved it! My husband and I saw it at the Winter Garden this past Saturday and even though he is not an ABBA fan I saw him singing and laughing too. If you want a happy, feel good...take me back to when we were 17 type of play, then this play might be the ticket. If you're looking for something more dower or stuffy, then go see something else. |

AVOID!!!! Tired show with horrible acting Review by: Alan J., Feb 3, 2012 |
We came to New York from Seattle last minute. I had business work, my family toured for the day, and I called my wife to ask her to get tickets for a show. She spoke to a young lady on the street who gave my wife a flyer for a discount to Mamma Mia. I spoke to my wife and we both agreed it was a good deal for the two of us and three children, How wrong we were to fall for a good deal! This show is horrible. No set, zero plot and bad acting. We ... read more had a lead who was an understudy, and she was beyond horrible. I don't wish to be rude to actors who are trying to do the best they can, but she was off key and WAY to old for the part. The rest of the cast was high school caliber at best. The girls all seemed like they were phoning in the performance, and my wife commented to me, she has never seen chorus boys who were so overweight. Maybe we caught the show on a bad night, but my wife and myself were horrified how bad this musical was. We spent over 400$ on this night and wished we tried another show. At Broadway prices the standard should be much bigger. Some numbers we could barely hear what the cast was singing, and at the end they take more bows than I have ever seen in my life for a sub par show. Just save your money and go somewhere else. They advertised this show was ten years old.......it shows. Rent the movie, don't waste your money.
