Took my entire family to see and had an absolute blast. I have 3 boys who are too old for Disney and not really into musicals. They said it was the best show they've seen! Not knowing much about Magic and Bird I was skeptical going in, but I learned so much. Go see it! |

Ninety Minutes Not Enough ... Wished it was Longer! Review by: Summs, Apr 11, 2012 |
Thoroughly enjoyed Magic/Bird. Wondered how it would be pulled off on a stage but they have done it. I am a tough guy from Cleveland so was caught of guard when I found myself emotionally involved. Both leads were outstanding with a slight nod to "Magic". Did not find multiple role playing by the cast the last bit distracting. Basketball fan or not go see it .... I only wish it was longer ..... |

Embarrassingly Bad! Review by: bball fan, Apr 5, 2012 |
| I don’t think I have ever seen another show, on Broadway, off-Broadway, in regional theater, or even a college or high school play, as poorly conceived and executed as this one. The script needs a MAJOR overhaul, as it consistently failed to develop even the tiniest thread of the many possible fascinating story lines available. Each time they developed a hint of a plotline, it disappeared, never to be ripened into anything resembling ... read more audience interest. The real story between Magic and Bird is so interesting, and the TV special was so well done, but none of that was translated to the stage in this production. The directing was laughable. The set was a joke – I’ve seen better in high school productions. The acting was passable, but not really their fault; what can actors do with a script and director who were so apparently determined to strip every ounce of human interest from a play? The character of Bird’s mother was a standout in that one scene, but really, it was grasping at straws to find even one thing in this show to compliment. |

Don't see it, you will be disappointed. Review by: The Man, Apr 3, 2012 |
| I wouldn't recommend this show, even for basketball fans. The audience felt no sympathy for the main characters. It was also inapproriate for a Broadway show to have four other actors play 5 characters each. You expect that in a community theater or maybe off-Broadway, but not on Broadway. For example, Peter Scolari played Red Auerbach (owner of Celtics) and then Jerry Buss (owner of Lakers) five minutes later, without much ... read more of a costume change. I give this show a week maximum once it opens. |
