Great Play with Powerful Acting... A must see... Review by: atlantadan, May 4, 2008 |
Fantastic! GO....I have to say, I was quiet surprised to how great this show is. The acting by Patrick Stewart and Kate Fleetwood was absolutely amazing. It had me tuned-in for the whole performance. Everybody was on their feet at the end of the show. It is an adaptation of MacBeth, set with a Stalinish genera with a stage set kinda like the setting of the movie "Saw". Kate Fleetwood, put in a very powerful performance as Lady MacBeth, and ... read more Patrick Stewart is so natural on stage. Highly recommend for anybody who wants to see a great play. Do not hesitate, you will really enjoy this.

The Scottish Play Review by: dylan, May 4, 2008 |
| Riveting production, visually dazzling and well-acted. Kate Fleetwood is the standout here. I think even those who have a hard time making it through Shakespeare will appreciate this show. Beware, however, that it is quite gory in parts, as well as sexually suggestive. |

| I guess I am just not high brow enough to understand or enjoy it. The bottom line is--I could not understand most of the dialogue |

REMARKABLE ON ALL LEVELS! Review by: addisondewitt, Apr 10, 2008 |
| Simply one of the greatest productions I have ever seen on stage. I saw it a week ago and its visual brilliance and the innovative concept of the staging have stayed with me. The startling directorial touches brought the concept of truth versus illusion to life and the acting caught the soaring music of Shakespeare in all its glory. If I have one quibble, and it is a small one, it is that although I liked Patrick Stewart I thought, as he is ... read more physically slighter than many of those he commands as King, that he should have used that as part of his reason for wanting power;a Napoleon complex if you will. I am sorry both he and the director missed this as I think it would have added even more depth to the proceedings. But, as I said, that is a minor point. Stewart and all the cast are quite remarkable. Here is a production where EVERYTHING WORKS. The three hours fly and there is not a sound in the audience until the wild applause and standing "O's" at the end. You know how people talk about seeing Laurette Taylor in THE GLASS MENAGERIE or the original cast of WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? Well this is one they will be speaking about in the same way for years to come. If I had the money, I would see this production tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. Miss it at your peril!! |
