Amazing show, amazing cast. It's unfortunate today's Broadway critics are not intelligent enough to realize a potential success when they see it. They beat it down way too early and with time, the show could have done well. I agree with what Elton John said himself, claiming Lestat to be his finest work. It's true the set and story could have used some work, but the music is spectacular and the show is full of top notch actors. Unfortunately ... read more the cast album is not out (At the moment) but hopefully someday Warner Brothers will get down from that high place of theirs and release it. |

A MUST-SEE MUSICAL Review by: Mariah320, Jul 7, 2006 |
| Despite all of the negative commentary about this "dark and mysterious" show, I recommend it to anyone who loves a good Broadway musical. It wasn't as eye-catching as Beauty & the Beastor Chicago, but what do you expect? IT'S ABOUT VAMPIRES. The cast made this show absolutely incrdible. For those people who are familiar with Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, you will not see what you're expecting to see based on what you read. However, the ... read more storyline makes sense and the music (and exceptional talent of the cast) make this show a MUST SEE!! |

I know it closed, but just for the record. Review by: CityChick86, Jun 24, 2006 |
| This show was kind of unfortunate. I went to see it on a date with my boyfriend...he hated it. I thought it was okay. Like, the story, the music, the sets, lighting, and the overall production was pretty bad. The actors, however, were really pretty great. Hugh Panaro is hot, hot, hot and Carolee Carmello has the voice of an angel. Allison Fischer steals the show as the ten year old girl, however. I think her and Paul Pontrelli from ... read more "Captain Louie" are my favorite kid actors. |

Not too keen on "critics" opinion.... Review by: Alfil, May 31, 2006 |
I saw this last friday and i didnt thought it was as bad as people said. Sure, the first act was a bit slow in some parts, but nothing a major tweaking might fix. I loved the second act (too bad Panaro was ill that day, so he wasnt on the second act). I am quite sad to see a show die so soon, because i dont think it was bad. Actually, it was very very good.
And the projections werent bad (maybe a bit overused...)
all in all, a ... read more great show!
And everyone did a great job, specially Carolee Carmello (sp?) and Allison Fischer... |

Poision Review by: folkyboy, May 28, 2006 |
Having heard about the show's infamous cheesy projections on the stage, I felt I had to sink my teeth into this campy crapical myself. I personally love the Broadway theatre more than anything and feel like I have to give each show it's just deserve as it takes a lot to get up there on the Great White Way. However, I'm sort of at a loss when it comes to this show. We're left wondering where Lestat's fate will fall if he ever dies in this ... read more production: heaven or hell. And I'm left wondering where oh where did all the money go? Warner Brothers Movie production (who put this show on) got seriously ripped off if they let this thing fly with a bunch of projections and a fire pit coming up from out of the stage. That CAN'T have cost $10 million dollars (even on a good day).
This show seriously came across as a drag queen cabaret act done by a bunch of pirates in a midevil garb. I don't know who dressed worse: the people on stage or the white trash hillbillies in the audience who brought out their dream catchers and wolf figurines to send this show off in style.
It was great for a laugh is all I'll say... |

See Lestat - Ignore the bad reviews! Review by: mesdot, May 21, 2006 |
| We bought tickets before previews began and were sad to read the first reviews. Non-refundable tickets in hand we went to see Lestat on May 20th and were very pleasantly surprised. It was wonderful. The voices were second to none, the set was fabulous and the producers should be proud. Given the chance, I would see the show again. Bravo! |

First time Broadway Experience Review by: TNS, May 20, 2006 |
| Tonight I experienced my first Broadway show, and I could not be happier with the experience. My sister and I went to Lestat because I am a fan of the Anne Rice 'Vampire Chronicles". The view from the front row was amazing. The actors were superb and the vocals gave me chills. This is definitely an experience I will never forget. Do not believe the "expert reviews". Keep this show around and check it out. |

Lestat Lives!! Review by: kellen, May 20, 2006 |
I've read many of the reviews on this play, and felt a strong need to voice my disagreement. Lest was wonderful! After reading all the negative reviews I was dreading going to this play (tickets purchased prior to B'way opening). I was pleasantly surprised. Caroline Carmello, Hugh Panaro, Alison Fischer, and Drew Sarich gave amazing performances. In the first act,Carolee Carmelo sang a song of farewell to her son (Le Stat) and sang it ... read more so beautifully and so passionately that it brought tears to my eyes. . Wow, what a voice! This play gets even better in the second act. I thought the music was glorious albeit some of the lyrics were a bit off. Humor does crop up in the show in a very intentional way. From reading some of these reviews it seems that many critics & theatergoers laugh in a superior way, assuming the writers were too stupid to notice that certain moments are funny. That is ridiculous. The show is much better than anything I've read about it on various review web sites. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see a highly entertaining Broadway show. Got for it! Forget all the negatives and see for yourself.

The Best!!!!!! Review by: ILOVEDREWSARICH, May 16, 2006 |
| I think that Lestat was the best broadway play i have ever seen. The music was fantastic (expecially the music from Drew Sarich as Armand, his voice is awesome) If you like Anne Rice, or even if you dont like her, you should see the play, it was terrific! |

second viewing Review by: , May 13, 2006 |
| I recently saw Lestat for the second time. It has improved tremendously since early previews. I did not enjoy it during previews, but recently had three out of town guests (who were not Anne Rice followers at all), and this time we ALL loved it.... even me who left the preview with thoughts of doom for the production. Any one who read early reviews should disregard them and feel free to give it a try, in it's new form , is now a definate ... read more should see ! |

Give this show a chance. You'll be glad you did. Review by: tubadxh, May 12, 2006 |
Saw the show last night. It really was quite good. All of the bad reviews that have been following this show are keeping people from having an open mind to the subject matter and seeing how it really relates to the music and lyrics. All of the actors are very good and their vocals are superb! That being said, the show doesn't seem to know what it wants to be...a dark and creepy play about the trade offs of everlasting life, ... read more or a fun musical about a group of vampires and their relationship dynamics. It also packs a lot of storyline into one show, not allowing the characters to become fully developed in the minds of the audience. However, overall the experience of Lestat certainly won't last a lifetime, but it is a pleasure and deserves a chance for a healthy life on Broadway. |

Bad storyline, ok show. Review by: TheatreGirl, May 12, 2006 |
| I went with my husband - we weren't familiar with the storyline. We expected a regular vampire - Heads up everyone - these are homosexual vampires! I would just rather see male vampires biting female vampires. Other then that, some of the tunes have stuck in my head like 'no greater crime' and 'I want more'. Good music - good sets and lighting. I think this show would do better with more people in the production numbers. ... read more The New Orleans opening scene especially seemed a little sparse. I cringed when Lestat passionately kissed his mother as well. ugh. |

Don't Miss It! Review by: Dave, May 11, 2006 |
Yes, the show has its problems, mainly in the flow of the songs/scenes and the first fifteen minutes of the show made me a little nervous about the 2 1/4 hours that were left, but after getting past that initial 15 minutes, I was genuinely entranced and intrigued by the show. The performances by the whole cast were unbelievable! Hugh Panaro's voice will captivate anyone. Carolee Carmello has an interesting voice, impecible ... read more acting and incredible belt...although her vibrato seems out of control when she gets really emotional. Drew Sarich as Armand and Jim Stanek as Louis were both breathtaking. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the Alison Fisher who doesn't come onstage until act 2 but this little girl immediatly grabbed my attention and proceeded to steal the show during her showstopper "I Want More".
Elton John's music is not like any of his other music...some of it gets a little drawn out and bland, but there are some beautiful melodies, namely "Right Before My Eyes" and "Crimson Kiss".
Like I said, don't go to this show expecing perfection...if you break it apart there are pieces that just don't fit, but as a whole it is an extremely interesting, unique piece of theater. I would certainly go again! |

Incredible Cast! Not to be missed! Review by: NY Theatre Lover, May 10, 2006 |
I LOVED this show. It's true, there are some problems here and there, but this CAST is NOT TO BE MISSED! The chance to see Carolee Carmello live on stage, is incredible. She has one of the most stunning and unique voices on the planet. Hugh Panaro is just an angel on that stage, with the beautiful tenor of one as well. Broadway newcomer, Drew Sarich is a fantastic actor with a rock tenor voice that seems unstoppable - this is a man to watch in ... read more the future, sure to become a HUGH star. And little Allison Fischer as Claudia utterly stops the show and steals it in the second act. DO NOT leave at intermission. There's a definite possibility one or two of these performances could be Tony nominated. As well as costumes and lighting.
I wouldn't even underestimate the possibility of a best musical nomination.
A DEFINITE must see....the design is very edgy and new, yet retaining the heart of the time periods and countries the show takes place in. The ensemble is amazing, there isn't a weak link in the cast. Also noteworthy are Roderick Hill as Nicolas and Jim Stanek as Louis. A flawless cast and worth every penny for the acting alone. |

An intertaining show...worth seeing Review by: Chucky, May 9, 2006 |
| I saw the show this past weekend and must say that I was surpised how well it was. Although I believe that the production can improve. Some scenes did not transition well. The opening of Act two choreography need to be more dazling. I did, however feel that the ending was alittle off. They really should rework that aspect. If your an Elton John fan you will not be disappointed. The cast is an ensemble of very talented individuals and I ... read more do look forward to a recording. All in all it was definitely worth seeing. |
