fabulously flawless and vividly colorful Review by: broadway girl, Nov 15, 2010 |
| Mr. Hodge and Mr. Grammer gave memorable performances as did the entire cast. The musical numbers were fabulously flawless and vividly colorful. This is a production that reminds us why we love Broadway. |

Review by: chris, Nov 3, 2010 |
Kelsey Grammer and Chris Hoge were not playing and had understudies, disappointed. It starts off very slow, my husband feel asleep during the 1st half. The second half was better, but the show was not as funny as the movie (The bird Cage, with Robin Williams) Was not my favorite Broadway show |

Will see it again! Review by: Evie, Sep 13, 2010 |
| What a show! The chemistry between the leads, Kelsey Grammer and Chris Hoge, is wonderous. The audience was on its feet before the last note sounded. I was hesitant to see it because the movie was so well done. However, the live performances stilled my doubts immediately. It is funny, sweet, poignant and still very relevant. It is not to be missed and I am seeing it again with a friend. |

Amazing production! Review by: SweetDave, Jul 27, 2010 |
| I never saw the original production in the 80s (because I wasnt born lol) and I had never heard a song or even knew wut the story was about so I didnt really know if it would be a waste or $. But from the moment it started and thhe moment it ended, I loved everything about it! Kelsey Grammer is perfect for the part. Some famous actors don't belong on Broadway but Kelsey is great. Douglas Hodge was just ok for me :/ yea ik he won the Tony but ... read more he didnt do much for me, but I would have loved seeing George Hearn in the role. A.J. Shively has an amazing voice and really blew me away. Robin De Jesus is hilarious and perfect for the part. Overall amazing show and you need to see it! |

Loved it! Review by: Tish, Jul 25, 2010 |
| Enjoyed this show very much. The dancers at La cage are incredible. Douglas Hodge and Kelsey Grammer are a very believable gay couple, very romantic, and seemingly devoted to each other. We would see it a second time! |

Skip it...we wished we had. Review by: Jackson5, Jul 15, 2010 |
| I'd skip it. We (5 of us) were all bored and sadly disappointed when it was all said n' done...the production is reheated slop. It's criminal what has been done to it. NOT a genuine moment to be found. The singing was awful. The costumes depressing. The revised script, painful. The orchestra lacked vavoom! The stand out (no pun intended) were the few (too few) chorus dancers. They steal the show but they're not on stage all that much except when ... read more the costume designer has put them in the most tacky punk rock wigs in place of grand diva wigs! What were they thinking? The fact is they left thinking at home. The poor the playwright, long dead, is no doubt turning over in his grave. Please, spare me! We wish we had! Oh, lastly, Grammer is stiff as a board. More than once we wanted to stop the show and show him and the director both the other side of 8th Avenue .. better yet New Jersey. |

What Broadway is all about Review by: DannyRose, Jul 5, 2010 |
| Terrific show from start to finish. Kelsey Grammer has a perfectly acceptable singing voice - I was pleasantly surprised by his range and vocal strength. What do people expect from an actor - an iron-lunged screamer? Douglas Hodge showed why he won the Tony: GREAT performance. Songs and dances and storyline had me, AND the entire audience, applauding and on our feet at the end. A wonderful night at the theater - This is what Broadway ... read more is all about!! |

Cheap revival! Review by: PAM, Jul 3, 2010 |
| I left the theater thoroughly depressed. Why must they continue to call these retreads "streamlined" versions when, in fact, they are just cheap re-productions. The two leads can neither sing nor dance and the performances are either bland or outrageously over-the-top. There's not a single clever or tender moment in the entire production. If you saw the original or even the mediocre revival a few years back, don't bother to waste your time ... read more on this one. The fact that it won four Tonys says more about the lame musical season than about the quality of this production. And I spent $120 for my ticket!!! Refund please... |

Somehow, It's Put A Permanent Star In My Eye! Review by: quizking101, Jun 16, 2010 |
Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge have given an electrifying life to this classic show. Kelsey Grammer does a magnificent job as the (pardon the pun) straight man to Hodge's over-the-top drag queen wife. Who knew Fraiser had a voice? Douglas Hodge had me in tears after his rendition of "I Am What I Am" and I believed he was a man who struggled with trying to be himself, but also trying to please others. For that, his TONY was MORE than deserved...... read more.Robin De Jesus was cute and darling as the feisty housemaid Jacob and Les Cagelles are worth the trip alone. GO SEE LA CAGE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT! P.S: If you happen to find front row seats on either Left or Right Orchestra, don't take them as the cabaret table chairs will limit leg room. |

And the Tony Goes to ( ..Wait for IT !! ..) La Cage Aux Folles.... Review by: Javy, Jun 13, 2010 |
I saw the Evening Performance of this Exciting Show. Please Put anyway The Movie Version of " The Bird Cage ", because you will miss the Songs, Dancing, and Dynamic Acting of Kelsey Grammer. He was Dynamic Allowing to Hold Back to allow His Fellow Actors build the audience and Engage the Storyline. Many Screen and Television Actors allow themselves to be the center of the Play, But Kelsey Shares and Most Often brings His Fellow Actors to steal ... read more the show. He's Singing is Average , but the Production and Costume of the Dancers of La Cage Aux Folles bring the High Octone High Kicking Dancing that I have NOT seen since HAIR. I have to say Cudos to Robin De Jesus. I first seen him in " In The Heights: and He was Awesome. He Has a great Supporting Character in the Play, that bridges both the Main Characters and the Dancers. I see him in the near Future in a One Man Show. Come Early , Stay Late, and Get your Autographs after the show NOT only to the Leading Actors, but also to the ensemble cast. They deserve to hear your praises. This show deserves a Tony !!! |

FABULOUS Review by: cwg, Jun 13, 2010 |
| Three of us, broads, one actor, and two writers saw the show two weeks ago: It was BRILLIANT!!!! best show in years- Kelsey was solid and fine, just like the original role. The star is Hodges, "the funny one" in both American and French movie. I saw 3 plays in a row an this was the best one. |

Take an colorful role and cast a dull, bland actor-wrong! Review by: Carolyn, Jun 11, 2010 |
| I wish the show the best however, Kelsey is a dud in the worst possible way. He's stiff as a board and dull. Hodge carries the show ... Kelsey takes the life out of it! Who adds life is the chorus dancers. Why there aren't more of them, I don't know...budget? Although the choice to put them in punk rock wigs I didn't get. The production is disappointing as it also lacks some essentials...over the top costumes! And a lead actor who can actually ... read more sing! He can't sing. And there's a lot of it in this show. If you're expecting the sorts of things we expected, as one would come to expect with a show of this kind, you'll be disappointed. There is, in place of flair, some colorful lighting choices but the orchestra was the pits! Dull! The On our way out, another couple was complaining about the show and Kelsey. Word is he's scheduled to play the role until February. Had we known we would have waited to see it. That is if the show lasts that long. Going was a risk and we lost this time. |
