Very Disappointed Family Review by: marbat, Nov 20, 2006 |
This show was extremely disapointing. The speeches about the history of ventriliquism and his life go on forever! The times he shared the stage with his various partners was funny but overall, a big letdown! |

Fun, interesting, touching show Review by: nyctc7, Oct 15, 2006 |
| He's the ventriloquist who was on "Soap." A very nice show that I enjoyed. Much of the show is devoted to Jay talking about the history of ventriloquisim, and talking about his career. Some of this is very interesting, some of it went on a tad too long. But his ventriloquisim act is wonderful and varied. Recommended. |

A great Surprise! Review by: Diane, Oct 12, 2006 |
| I really enjoyed this show. And to tell you the truth, it was not at the top of my list, but you know how things go. Although it's 70% of Jay shining with his craft, I loved the little snippets of the History Lessons and the Autobiographical stuff. I would go back tomorrow. |

Would see again (and again and again) Review by: Diva, Oct 2, 2006 |
| We followed this show from its tryouts in L.A. to Off-Broadway to its current venue. Mr. Johnson is amazing and when he and his "co-stars" get going, you are astounded by the depth of his talents. It's touching, laugh-til-you-cryable, and generally all around Terrific! |

Very funny Review by: , Sep 27, 2006 |
I thought this show was excellent! It was very, very, funny, especially the scenes with the monkey, and I thought his banter was interesting.
I highly recommend this show, this man is super talented. He got a standing O at this performance, and deservedly so. |

leave it on the reruns Review by: folkyboy, Sep 25, 2006 |
When a one man show starts reciting the dictionary definition for what it’s about, you sort of start recounting your professor in college. Now what would he say if you started grappling at mediocre references here? Oh! He wouldn’t say anything. He’d just give you an “F”.
But I wouldn’t be as harsh to poor Jay, as he did find in him moments to make me laugh. Albeit, it wasn’t without reminding me how all of this craft was honed ... read more at a Six Flags Amusement Park, but hey…we can’t all be as amused as we’d like. |

A MUST SEE and MUST HEAR! Review by: downtown girl, Sep 24, 2006 |
| I just saw this show. What an unbelievably excellent experience - clever, charming, and a unique, "retro" talent. Jay Johnson's ability to craft a performance that is revealing both of his life and of his craft is at once, amazing, humorous and tender. I truly recommend it to sometimes overly jaded New Yorkers like myself to tourists and tweens. |

Too much of a good thing? Review by: kernel, Sep 20, 2006 |
| Mr. Johnson is an accomplished ventriloquist whose artistry and stories of his life-long interest in the art are presented in a most enjoyable way. Still, Ed Sullivan knew that a whole show filled with ventriloquism was not the way to go and that's my problem with this show. Definitely better suited to off-Broadway. Warning: the mezzanine seating is dummy sized-tight quarters |
